Cole (9-5) allowed one run on five hits and two walks over six innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Rays.

Cole worked through three scoreless frames before yielding a run in the fourth. Unfortunately for him, the Yankees were shut out, so he was tagged with a loss. Since his last win July 17, Cole is 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA over his last five starts. With Monday's outing, he lowered his season ERA to 3.30 alongside a 184:35 K:BB across 144.1 frames. Cole is projected to start at home against the Blue Jays this weekend.

Bubic (2-7) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against Minnesota. He struck out seven.

Minnesota had little trouble getting to Bubic on Monday as he failed to record a clean inning all night. The effort breaks a five-start stretch in which Bubic maintained a 2.27 ERA and 1.04 WHIP and notched four quality starts. He will try to get back on track in his next scheduled start this weekend in Tampa Bay.

Ryan (9-5) earned the win Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings in a 4-2 win over Kansas City. He struck out six.

Ryan was tagged for a two-run home run in the first inning off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino but held the Royals scoreless the rest of his outing. While he recorded over a strikeout per inning with just 80 pitches through 5.1 innings, he failed to reach six innings for the seventh straight start. The 26-year-old has posted a 5.15 ERA since the beginning of July, so it seems the Twins are more actively managing his workload to help get his numbers back in line with the start of the season.

Civale allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 across six innings in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Tigers. He didn't factor into the decision.

Civale struck out a season-high 10 batters in his quality start, with his lone run surrendered coming in the first inning on a groundout. Following Civale's latest outing, he's allowed just four runs and struck out 21 over his last four appearances (18 innings). Despite this, his last win dates back to May 20 against Detroit.

Velasquez (finger) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Velasquez sustained a finger injury in early July but spent the last two weeks on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte and posted a 4.76 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 5.2 innings over four appearances. While he's worked as a starter and reliever in the majors this year, he'll pitch out of the bullpen now that he's healthy.

Rodriguez (personal) will make his third rehab start Tuesday at Triple-A Toledo, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Tuesday's outing will likely be Rodriguez's last in the minors before he meets with Tigers manager A.J. Hinch on Wednesday to discuss his next steps. If he's set to return to the big leagues, the left-hander could start for the Tigers as soon as Aug. 21 against the Angels. Rodriguez last pitched for Detroit on May 18 before being shut down with a rib cage injury and then landing on the restricted list to tend to a personal matter.

Battenfield was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Battenfield will return to Columbus after being called up Friday. He failed to appear in a game before being sent down Monday, but he'll remain a top option for a future call-up down the stretch.

Perez did not factor into the decision against the Mariners on Sunday, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out seven and walking five over six innings.

It was not his best outing, but Perez helped keep the Rangers in the game, throwing 66 of 105 pitches for strikes across six frames and allowing one earned run. The five walks were a single-game season high for the veteran lefty. Perez now has 15 quality starts on the year and has picked up four in his last five outings. He will take a 2.79 ERA into his next appearance.

Gilbert did not factor into the decision against the Rangers on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five and walking four over six innings.

Although Gilbert did not factor into the decision, he still earned a quality start in the contest, throwing 47 of 87 pitches for strikes and allowing three runs across six frames. The young righty seems to have righted the ship some after allowing 13 runs in his last 9.1 innings, all to the Yankees. After those rough outings ballooned his ERA from 2.78 to 3.47, Sunday's three-run appearance took it up to 3.51.

Houck (back) is scheduled to visit a spine specialist Monday, MLB.com reports.

The upcoming meeting with a back specialist will be the last in a series of appointments for Houck, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 6. Boston manager Alex Cora believes the club will have a better idea of the right-hander's timetable after the final consultation, and the earliest Houck can return is Aug. 21. While Houck is unavailable, Garrett Whitlock and John Schreiber have picked up save chances.
