Cortes (10-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over five innings in a 5-3 win over Boston. He struck out seven.

Cortes allowed his only run on a double from Connor Wong to cut the Yankees' lead to two in the fifth inning. The lefty has recorded six strikeouts or more in just five of his last 15 starts. On the other hand, the 27-year-old has not allowed a home run in six of his last nine starts, his lowest home-run rate of any nine-game stretch this season.

Cease (14-7) was tagged with the loss after he pitched five innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Cease wasn't the best version of himself Wednesday, allowing two runs to score in the second frame before a C.J. Cron single in the fifth inning drove in the final run on his line. The 26-year-old came into the contest having given up just two runs over 23 innings in his last three starts combined, but Wednesday's outing ended his quality-start streak at three. That being said, Cease still owns an awfully impressive 2.16 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with an eye-popping 214 punchouts over 167 innings in 29 starts this season.

Rasmussen (10-5) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings in a 5-1 loss against the Blue Jays. He struck out one.

Rasmussen was not at his best Wednesday, allowing as many as four runs for the first time since June 10. The Blue Jays got to him early, as Vladimir Guerrero hit a solo shot in the first inning, and Rasmussen never settled in as he also conceded runs in the third and fourth innings. He'd recorded back-to-back quality starts leading into Wednesday, so he will look to get back to form in his next scheduled start against Houston next week.

Stripling (8-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings against the Rays.

The only damage on the night for Stripling came via a solo shot off the bat of Harold Ramirez to lead off the seventh inning. Otherwise, Stripling was effective, as he recorded his sixth straight quality start and got his ERA back under 3.00. With four strikeouts Wednesday, he has 102 on the season through 119 innings. Stripling tentatively lines up to face Philadelphia in his next start.

Wentz (1-2) allowed two runs on four hits across four innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Astros. He walked one and struck out five.

Wentz needed 91 pitches to cover his four innings but managed to mostly slow down a strong Houston lineup while he was in there outside of a Kyle Tucker home run in the fourth. However, the Tigers only mustered a single run against Cristian Javier and three relievers. That saddled Wentz with the loss, though he's looked good in his two September appearances, allowing just the two runs across 10.2 innings while striking out 10 and walking two. The lefty is slated to start again Monday against the Orioles, and he's making a push to begin 2023 in the Detroit rotation as well.

Zulueta (knee/shoulder) has struck out eight while allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks over four innings in his three appearances since being reinstated from Double-A New Hampshire's 7-day injured list Sept. 4.

The 24-year-old righty was on the shelf for about a month while nursing the two injuries. He's turned in a 3.77 ERA and 24:13 K:BB in 14.1 innings since moving up to New Hampshire from High-A Vancouver in late June.

Manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Glasnow (elbow) performed well during Tuesday's rehab start at Triple-A Durham but will require "multiple" additional minor-league appearances prior to returning from the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow has made a pair of rehab appearances at Durham over the last week, allowing a run on a hit and three walks while striking out four in 2.1 innings. While he's felt good following the outings, he'll need to spend some more time in the minors prior to rejoining the Rays. However, if he continues to fare well following his upcoming rehab appearances, it's possible the right-hander is utilized out of Tampa Bay's bullpen late in the regular season.

Civale (forearm) will make a rehab appearance at Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Civale hopes to return from the injured list Sept. 20 against the White Sox, but he'll have a tune-up in the minors prior to getting the green light for activation. Assuming the right-hander feels good following Thursday's outing, he'll be pitching on normal rest against the White Sox if he's activated when first eligible.

Eovaldi (shoulder) will throw another live BP on Sunday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Eovaldi threw three innings of live batting practice Tuesday and will face hitters once again in a controlled environment this weekend. It's still possible that the right-hander requires a rehab assignment after Sunday's throwing session, and the Red Sox have emphasized that they don't intend to rush him back.

McClanahan (shoulder) is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's game against the Blue Jays, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

McClanahan seemed to be trending toward a brief IL stint after he threw a 50-pitch simulated game Friday and checked out fine afterward. It's not clear whether the left-hander threw a bullpen session Monday or Tuesday, but he should be ready to return to game action for Thursday's matchup. Despite his brief absence, it's possible he's on a pitch count against Toronto.
