Lorenzen allowed three hits and three walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Tuesday.

Lorenzen wasn't able to complete six innings in any of his four September starts after returning from a shoulder strain. He got to that mark with one of his best performances of the year Tuesday, as no Oakland hitter got past second base on his watch. Lorenzen worked as a starter full-time for the first season since 2015, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 85:44 K:BB over 97.2 innings in his 18 starts this year. He could remain in the Angels' rotation in 2023 if he signs a new contract with the team.

Lyles isn't scheduled to start either game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 31-year-old's final turn through the rotation lined up for Wednesday, but Mike Baumann and Spenser Watkins will instead start the final two games of the campaign for Baltimore. Lyles has been a solid innings eater for the Orioles this year with a 4.42 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 144:52 K:BB across 179 innings (32 starts), and that's where his numbers will finish for 2022 barring an appearance out of the bullpen.

Irvin allowed four hits and hit two batters while striking out five and walking none over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Irvin had a good start in his last outing of the year, but he received no support from his teammates while he was in the game. He had failed to escape the fifth inning in his previous two starts. Irvin concludes 2022 with a 3.98 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 128:36 K:BB across 181 innings over 30 starts. The southpaw could enter 2023 as the Athletics' top starter if he remains with the team through the offseason.

Verlander (18-4) threw five no-hit innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Phillies. He struck out 10 and walked one.

The Astros didn't push Verlander very far in a game that had no impact on the regular season. He exited after 77 pitches (51 strikes) in another sharp start to put a bow on his excellent regular season. The 39-year-old finishes with a 1.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 185:29 K:BB through 175 innings over 28 starts, and he'll likely be back on the mound for Game 1 of the ALDS in a week.

Giolito (11-9) allowed two runs on two hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out four over seven innings, earning the win over the Twins on Tuesday.

The right-hander threw 61 of 91 pitches for strikes in his final start of the season. He gave up the opening run on a sacrifice fly in the second inning and also yielded an RBI single in the sixth. Giolito finished with three quality starts in his last six outings, and this win snapped his six-start streak without a victory. He posted a 4.90 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 177:61 K:BB through 161.2 innings across 30 starts overall, taking a noticeable step back from the level he displayed over the three previous seasons.

Eovaldi (6-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings with four strikeouts against Tampa Bay.

In his second start since returning from the injured list and last start of the season, Eovaldi tossed five scoreless innings on just 64 pitches. The effort was technically a complete game as the game was called short after five innings due to rain. Eovaldi likely would have gone deeper in the game as he worked up to 72 pitches in his prior start. He finishes the season with a 3.87 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 109.1 innings with 103 strikeouts.

Springs (9-5) took the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk over three innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three.

After throwing at least five innings in 11 of his previous 12 starts, Springs was pulled early Tuesday after completing the third inning. The one run he surrendered came on a Christian Arroyo single after he allowed a leadoff walk to Alex Verdugo and a base hit to Eric Hosmer. Springs completes his season with a career-high 135.1 innings pitched to go along with a 2.46 ERA and 144 punchouts.

Flexen allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two in four innings in a 7-6 extra-innings win in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Detroit. He did not factor into the decision.

In his first start since Aug. 6, Flexen held Detroit scoreless in the first two innings. In the third, a couple of doubles led to a run and in the fourth, he gave up a two-run, two-out homer to Spencer Torkelson. Flexen has a 4.02 ERA in 121 innings as a starter and a 1.62 ERA in 16.2 innings in relief this year. He'll likely continue in a relief role if he's included on the Mariners' AL Wild Card roster.

Rodriguez allowed three runs on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out seven in six innings in a 7-6 extra-inning loss in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader in Seattle. He did not factor into the decision.

Rodriguez ran into trouble in the third inning as Curt Casali and Mitch Haniger each put balls into the seat, resulting in three runs being scored. Rodriguez otherwise held the Mariners in check and induced two groundball double plays. It was his fourth straight start of at least six innings. He ends his first year in Detroit with a 4.05 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 72:34 K:BB in 91 innings across 17 starts.

Quantrill (15-5) earned the win Tuesday over Kansas City, striking out four in five innings while allowing a run on four hits.

Quantrill scattered two singles over the first four innings Tuesday, holding the Royals scoreless. After retiring the first two batters in the fifth, he gave up consecutive hits and a run came around to score. The righty allowed one run in each of his last three starts, lowering his ERA for the season to 3.38. He is likely to get the start in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card series if that game is necessary.
