Allen allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings Saturday versus the Twins. He did not factor in the decision.

After two fairly impressive starts to begin his major-league career, Allen was a little less dominant Saturday. The damage against him came on a two-run home run by Max Kepler in the sixth inning. Over 16.2 innings, Allen still has a solid 2.70 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB. He'll look to keep up the good work next week versus the Angels.

The Tigers recalled Faedo from Triple-A Toledo ahead of his scheduled start Sunday in St. Louis.

Detroit optioned Spencer Turnbull to Triple-A in a corresponding move, potentially setting Faedo up to make multiple turns through the rotation as the Tigers' fifth starter. Whether he gets any starts beyond Sunday, however, will likely hinge on how he performs against the Cardinals, as Detroit could elect to get by with a four-man rotation thanks to three well-timed off days during the upcoming two weeks. Faedo has pitched effectively through his first five starts with Toledo this season, logging a 2.50 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB in 18 innings.

The Tigers optioned Turnbull to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

After missing the entire 2022 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Turnbull was healthy enough to break camp as a member of Detroit's Opening Day rotation. However, the 30-year-old right-hander hasn't been anywhere close to as effective as he had been prior to his surgery through his first seven starts of 2023, as he logged a 7.26 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 24:15 K:BB in 31 innings. The Tigers are hoping a demotion to Triple-A will help Turnbull regain confidence while honing his control and command. Alex Faedo will be called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move to start Sunday's game in St. Louis, and he could end up making a few turns through the rotation as the Tigers' No. 5 starter while Turnbull is on the farm.

German allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings against Tampa Bay on Saturday. He did not factor in the decision.

German started the outing on a rough note, yielding a hit to each of the first two batters he faced and giving up a pair of runs in the first inning. After that, he held Tampa's potent lineup mostly in check, allowing just one more hit and no more runs. German didn't get the offensive support he needed to pick up the win, but a late Yankees rally resulted in the Rays' seventh loss of the season. The right-hander has given up two or fewer runs in four of his seven appearances this season, and overall he has a 4.35 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB across 39.1 innings.

Gray did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Guardians. He struck out six in Minnesota's loss.

It was Gray's worst outing of the season as he gave up three runs in the fourth inning after giving up just three runs over his first six starts. His ERA increased to 1.35, which shows how dominant he's been so far. Gray's next start is expected to be Friday at home against the Cubs.

Kluber (2-4) earned the win over Philadelphia on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out one batter over five innings.

Kluber was far from dominant in the outing, as he induced just nine swinging strikes and punched out only one batter. However, he didn't issue any walks and kept the Phillies away from big innings, allowing a single run in each of the second, fourth and fifth frames. Kluber needed 91 pitches to get through five innings, but that was enough for him to pick up his second victory. He began the campaign with four straight losses, but he's improved with two wins over his past three starts, allowing a tolerable seven earned runs over 16.1 frames during that stretch.

Bradish did not factor in the decision against Atlanta on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.

Bradish racked up 15 whiffs in the contest, though they led to only four strikeouts. The right-hander's final line wasn't exceptional, but he did manage to complete five frames for just the second time through five starts this season. Bradish holds a shaky 5.95 ERA and 1.73 WHIP on the campaign to go along with an 18:9 K:BB over 19.2 innings.

France allowed three hits and a walk while striking out five over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Saturday.

France threw 51 of 84 pitches for strikes in his major-league debut. He was in line for the win before a meltdown from Rafael Montero and Ryne Stanek in the eighth inning. France was solid with a 2.33 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB over 19.1 innings with Triple-A Sugar Land to start the year. The 28-year-old could stick in Houston's rotation for a while since Luis Garcia's (elbow) season is over while Lance McCullers (forearm) and Jose Urquidy (shoulder) are also on the injured list. France is tentatively projected to make a road start versus the White Sox next week in the likely event he stays up with the big club.

Gonzales allowed three runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Saturday.

Gonzales has had only one truly awful outing this season, and that was last Sunday versus the Blue Jays. He looked to be in line for his first loss of the season Saturday before the Mariners rallied for seven runs in the eighth inning. The soft-throwing southpaw now has a 4.70 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB through 30.2 innings across six starts. He's projected for a road start in Detroit next week.

Detmers (0-3) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven over four innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Rangers.

Detmers threw 60 of 94 pitches for strikes, but Rangers batters were able to foul off 23 of those pitches. His two shortest outings of the season have been his last two, where he's allowed a combined 10 runs (seven earned) over 8.1 innings. The good news is that he hasn't allowed a home run in that span. Detmers now has a 5.10 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB over 30 innings spanning six starts. He's projected for a road start in Cleveland next weekend.
