Glasnow was removed from his start Friday versus Atlanta due to an apparent injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow seemed to be having some trouble with his left (glove) hand, as he was rubbing and stretching it as he walked off the field with a trainer at his side. The 29-year-old right-hander had allowed two runs -- one earned -- over 5.2 innings prior to his departure in the top of the sixth. He issued only one walk and struck out eight.

Urquidy (shoulder) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Sunday in Houston, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Yordan Alvarez (oblique) will be among the batters standing in against Urquidy, who's been on the shelf since May 1 due to a bad case of right shoulder inflammation. If all goes well during Sunday's workout, Urquidy could be cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment sometime next week. He's on track to return to the Astros' rotation around mid-to-late July.

Cortes (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Carlos Rodon. Cortes is slated to face hitters this weekend and wouldn't seem to be too far off from a rehab assignment, but he now won't be eligible for activation until Aug. 3. He has not suffered a setback, but rather he and the Yankees are just wanting to take things slowly.

The Rangers reinstated Heaney from the paternity list Friday.

After spending three days away from the team to be with his growing family, Heaney returns to the Rangers one day before his scheduled start against Washington. The 32-year-old lefty has allowed eight runs on 14 hits and four walks while striking out 19 batters over 16.1 innings across his last three starts. John King was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Rodon was activated from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Rodon will make his long-awaited Yankees and season debut Friday against the Cubs following a long absence due to forearm and then back injuries. The left-hander threw just 58 pitches in his final rehab start, so he'll be under some level of workload restriction Friday, although manager Aaron Boone declined to reveal exactly what that would be, per Laura Albanese of Newsday. Rodon signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Yankees over the offseason.

The Red Sox reinstated Paxton from the paternity list Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

The 34-year-old southpaw will make his next start Saturday against Oakland, but he'll rejoin the team a day early with Kaleb Ort (undisclosed) headed to the IL. Paxton has been stellar this season and holds a 2.00 ERA and 0.61 WHIP alongside a 17:3 K:BB through 18 innings over his last three starts.

Faedo (finger) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Faedo will be back in Detroit's rotation for the first time since suffering a right middle fingernail injury in late May. The right-hander has made five starts in 2023, posting a 5.54 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 26 strikeouts over 26 innings. If he can control the long ball -- he's served up six homers this year -- positive regression should be in store for Faedo's ERA.

Medina is expected to serve as a bulk reliever Friday in Boston, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

He will follow opener Sam Long. The bulk relief role isn't foreign to Medina, who has been used both in that capacity as well as a traditional starter this season. Unfortunately, he hasn't been terribly effective in either role.

Manoah was called up from Double-A New Hampshire on Friday and will start against the Tigers.

As expected, Manoah will make his return to the big-league rotation Friday. The 25-year-old was sent down to the Florida Complex League in early June and has slowly worked his way back to Toronto's roster. Manoah made one start with New Hampshire, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out 10 batters against Portland on Sunday. Over 13 major-league outings, he's struggled to a bloated 6.36 ERA and 1.90 WHIP with a 7.4 K/9 ratio, which is the lowest of his three-year MLB career.

Lyles allowed one run on six hits and no walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against Cleveland on Thursday.

Lyles was scratched from his scheduled start last Friday due to an illness but was well enough by Thursday to take the mound against the Guardians. The right-hander put together one of his best starts of the campaign, finishing with no walks for just the third time and allowing only one run, which came on a solo shot by Andres Gimenez in the second inning. Lyles has completed at least five frames in each of his past eight starts, though he hasn't been all that impressive over that span with a 5.60 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB over 45 innings.
