Mitch Spence RP | ATH
Athletics' Mitch Spence: Set to start Sunday's contest
Spence will start Sunday's game against the Pirates, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sept. 10, Spence has made one appearance out of the Athletics bullpen, tossing 3.2 innings scoreless frames Tuesday in a win over the Red Sox. He'll be returning to the mound Sunday on four days' rest and shouldn't be operating with a strict pitch limit. He's worked as a traditional starter for a good chunk of the season, making seven starts with the Athletics and seven with Las Vegas.

Bubba Chandler SP | PIT
Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Dominant over five frames in win
Chandler (3-1) earned the win against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings.
Chandler flashed his ace potential Saturday, firing 47 of 68 pitches for strikes while generating 15 whiffs and limiting the Athletics to just a second-inning double. Since getting tagged for nine runs by the Brewers on Sept. 7, the 23-year-old has allowed only one run on three hits with a 13:0 K:BB across his past two outings. He'll carry a 4.56 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB over his first 25.2 major-league innings into a road matchup with Atlanta next weekend.

Trevor McDonald SP | SF
Giants' Trevor McDonald: Drawing first MLB start Sunday
McDonald will start Sunday's game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury Newsreports.
After being called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, McDonald made his 2025 Giants debut later that night and pitched two innings out of the bullpen against the Diamondbacks, allowing two earned runs on three hits and a walk. He had been working out of the Triple-A rotation prior to his promotion, so he should be able to handle a traditional starter's workload Sunday, if the Giants desire. Tristan Beck, Carson Seymour and Spencer Bivens are candidates to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen if needed.

Sam Bachman RP | LAA
Angels' Sam Bachman: Back in Anaheim
The Angels recalled Bachman from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
The 25-year-old righty will rejoin the Angels' bullpen as a replacement for Robert Stephenson, who landed on the injured list Saturday with an elbow injury. Robert Stephenson RP | LAA
Angels' Robert Stephenson: Shelved with elbow inflammation
The Angels placed Stephenson on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow inflammation.
Stephenson's move to the IL will ensure he remains sidelined for the rest of the year after putting up a 2.70 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 10 innings in the majors. Sam Bachman was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to fill the hole in the Halos' bullpen.
