The Guardians acquired Parsons from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for $250,000 in international bonus pool money.

Toronto had recently designated Parsons for assignment, but he'll regain a spot on Cleveland's 40-man roster as he heads to his new organization.The Guardians have optioned Parsons to Triple-A Columbus, where he could either join the rotation or bullpen.

Harvey said his left hand is feeling much better and he could be available to pitch Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Harvey had to be removed from an appearance Tuesday after being struck by a comebacker in his glove hand, which he said caused him to lose feeling in his hand for 40 minutes. However, X-rays came back clean and it would appear Harvey should be fine. The Nationals have an off day Thursday, however, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Harvey is held out until Friday.

Barlow (0-2) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one over one inning to take the loss Tuesday versus the White Sox.

Barlow gave up a two-run double to Dominic Fletcher in the eighth inning, and that was the decisive play of the game. Barlow entered Tuesday with three consecutive scoreless outings, but he's been a bit shaky in a high-leverage role. He has four holds and two losses through six appearances while pitching to a 6.35 ERA and 2.12 WHIP over 5.2 innings. With pitchers like Nick Sandlin and Hunter Gaddis starting the season well, continued struggles from Barlow could see him drop a couple of spots in Cleveland's bullpen hierarchy.

Speier (neck) worked around a hit and a hit-by-pitch to turn in a scoreless inning of relief Tuesday in the Mariners' 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays. He struck out one of the five batters he faced.

Speier went unused in both of the Mariners' past two games after experiencing some neck discomfort following his most recent appearance in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Brewers. The Mariners never seemed to have much concern about Speier's health, and a couple days off was seemingly all he needed to move past the neck issue.

The Mets optioned Nunez to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Nunez allowed one run over two innings in his major-league debut Tuesday in Atlanta and was immediately sent back down after the game. Tyler Jay was called up from Syracuse and will take Nunez's spot in the bullpen.

Floro worked a perfect seventh inning without a walk or a strikeout Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a win over the Giants.

The veteran right-hander has been busy to begin the season. Floro has appeared in six of the Nationals' first 11 games, posting a 1.50 ERA and 6:5 K:BB through six innings. While he has closing experience from his Miami days, Floro doesn't seem to be part of Washington's highest-leverage crew, but he could move into a more prominent bullpen role if he continues getting results.

Weems (1-0) recorded a blown save and a win Tuesday against the Giants, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits in an inning of relief. He struck out one.

The right-hander entered a 3-1 game in the sixth inning and couldn't close the door, but the Nationals answered back with a go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. Weems has been solid in the early going, appearing in five of Washington's 11 games and posting a 1.80 ERA and 5:2 K:BB over five innings with two holds in addition to Tuesday's win.

Harvey was removed during his relief appearance in the eighth inning of Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Giants after being struck on the left hand by a comebacker, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

According to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com, X-rays on Harvey's non-throwing hand came back negative after it was struck by a 95-mph line drive off the bat of Mike Yastrzemski. After the Nationals were able to hold on for the win, Harvey was credited with his fourth hold of the season, striking out one over two-thirds of an inning. With an off day on tap Thursday, the Nationals could elect to stay away from Harvey in Wednesday's series finale in San Francisco, but the right-hander appears likely to avoid a trip to the injured list.

Alcala (undisclosed) struck out two over a scoreless inning of relief in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Per Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, Alcala dealt with some unspecified soreness coming out of his most recent relief appearance in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Cleveland, prompting the Twins to hold him out of Monday's series-opening 4-2 loss to Los Angeles. Alcala was able to play light catch Sunday without incident, and after returning to action Tuesday and delivering a solid outing, he looks to be good to go moving forward. The right-hander is off to an excellent start to the 2024 campaign, striking out six over 5.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and two walks.

McGowan is on the development list with Double-A Reading.

He only threw 25.2 innings in the minors last season -- his first year back from April 2022 Tommy John surgery. This move is likely a maneuver to manage McGowan's workload this season, as he could have been placed on the injured list if he were hurt.
