Romano (elbow) played light catch Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Romano felt soreness in his right elbow while throwing loss toss from 120 feet this past Friday, so it's a pleasant surprise he's throwing again already, even if only lightly. The veteran reliever has dealt with elbow problems off and on since spring training, so he'll need to clear several hurdles before a timetable for a return can be mapped out. He's been on the shelf since June 1.

Lovelady (forearm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Thursday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Lovelady was placed on the injured list June 8 due to a left forearm flexor strain. Prior to the injury, he appeared in eight games for the Rays, registering a 7.36 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 7.1 innings. Lovelady will likely need a few bullpen sessions without any setbacks before beginning a rehab assignment.

Waguespack (shoulder) is scheduled to throw one inning for the rookie-level Flordia Complex League Rays on Tuesday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Waguespack landed on the 15-day injured list May 6 due to right shoulder inflammation, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 18. His last outing before the injury was May 2 with Triple-A Durham, when he allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven over five innings.

The Guardians optioned McCaughan to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

McCaughan was knocked around for two runs on four hits and two walks over two relief innings in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays in his lone appearance with the Guardians following his call-up from Triple-A last Wednesday. He's being sent back to the minors in favor of a fresh bullpen arm.

Atlanta voided Kerr's option to Triple-A Gwinnett and placed him on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow UCL injury.

Kerr had been sent down to Triple-A on June 15, but he never made an appearance for Gwinnett following the demotion, so the transaction has been rescinded. Atlanta hasn't provided much detail regarding Kerr's injury, but UCL damage is often a precursor to Tommy John surgery.

The Cardinals activated Robertson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Robertson has moved past the right elbow injury that sent him to the IL a month ago, but he'll remain at Memphis, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The right-hander holds a 4.38 ERA and 14:2 K:BB over 12.1 innings during his time in the majors this season.

The Red Sox recalled Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Winckowski will give the Red Sox a fresh arm in the bullpen who's capable of covering multiple innings. Boston was in need of some reinforcement in the bullpen after the team leaned on eight relievers to cover all nine innings of Sunday's 7-4 win over the Reds.

The Red Sox recalled Campbell from Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Chris Henrique of Beyond the Monster reports.

Campbell held a 12.79 ERA in seven appearances earlier this season with the Red Sox before getting injured and then optioned. He righted the ship while at Worcester, posting a 2.19 ERA and 18:3 K:BB in 12.1 frames.

The Red Sox optioned Keller to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Chris Henrique of Beyond the Monster reports.

Keller has allowed 10 runs over 16.2 innings as a low-leverage reliever for the Red Sox. He's being replaced by a fresh arm after he threw 31 pitches and allowed three runs over one inning in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Reds.

Howard is expected to serve as the Giants' primary pitcher out of the bullpen in Monday's game against the Cubs, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Left-hander Erik Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher but isn't likely to work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to Howard, who is expected to eat up the bulk of the innings. Howard covered just one frame in his last appearance, but prior to that, he averaged nearly four innings and more than 60 pitches in his first four outings for the Giants following his May 28 call-up from Triple-A Sacramento.
