Scott Effross RP | DET
Yankees' Scott Effross: Cleared for rehab assignment
Effross (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Wednesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Effross hasn't pitched since 2022 due to Tommy John and back surgeries. He'll need time to knock the rust off but could be a weapon in the second half for the Yankees if he can regain his pre-surgery sharpness. Effross posted a 2.78 ERA and 80:16 K:BB over 71.1 innings from 2021-22 with the Cubs and Yankees.

Ian Hamilton RP | ATL
Yankees' Ian Hamilton: Placed on IL with lat strain
The Yankees placed Hamilton on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right lat strain, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Hamilton will be shut down from throwing for 3-to-4 weeks and will need time to ramp back up after that, so it's going to be an extended absence. It's not clear how long Hamilton's lat had been bothering him, but he had been struggling lately in allowing eight runs (seven earned) over his last four appearances.

Cole Winn RP | TEX
Rangers' Cole Winn: Returns to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Winn to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Winn pitched in the past two games after being recalled by Texas on Sunday, and he'll return to the minors after he gave up four runs across three innings. He's made 13 appearances in the big leagues this year and has a 7.79 ERA across 17.1 innings.

Yerry Rodriguez RP | NYY
Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Rejoins big club
The Rangers recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
The right-hander was optioned to Round Rock in late May but will rejoin the Rangers ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Mets. Rodriguez has made 12 appearances for Texas this season and has a 6.88 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 12:11 K:BB over 17 innings.

Anthony Misiewicz RP | CIN
Yankees' Anthony Misiewicz: Receiving promotion
The Yankees selected Misiewicz's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Misiewicz, 29, holds a 3.23 ERA and 37:10 K:BB over 30.2 innings this season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He will provide the Yankees with another left-hander in the bullpen.

Trevor Richards RP | CHW
Blue Jays' Trevor Richards: Returns to bullpen
Richards struck out one over two scoreless innings of relief in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox. He gave up no hits and one walk in the 33-pitch appearance.
He had served as an opening pitcher in front of Bowden Francis in two of his previous five appearances, but Richards looks set to occupy a full-time role in the bullpen moving forward. The Blue Jays are expected to bring back Yariel Rodriguez (back) from the 15-day injured list this weekend in Cleveland, and he'll presumably step into the No. 5 spot in the rotation that had previously been covered by Richards-Francis tandem.

Eli Villalobos RP | SD
Tigers' Eli Villalobos: Catches on with Detroit
Villalobos signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Monday.
Villalobos made his MLB debut earlier this season with the Marlins, appearing in three games as a reliever and covering 4.1 innings before Miami optioned him back to the minors May 11. He was outrighted off the 40-man roster later that month and elected to become a free agent upon clearing waivers. Villalobos didn't take long to find a new opportunity with the Tigers, who assigned him to the rookie-level Florida Complex League after signing him. Before joining his new organization, Villalobos hadn't pitched since May 24, so he likely just needs some time to get ramped back up before eventually settling into a relief role with Detroit's Triple-A affiliate in Toledo.

Matt Foster RP | CHW
White Sox's Matt Foster: Starts up rehab assignment
Foster (elbow) began a rehab assignment Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, striking out two over a scoreless inning.
Foster is working his way back from April 2023 Tommy John surgery, so he'll likely need the full 30-day rehab window to get fully ramped up. The right-hander opened his rehab assignment Monday on a positive note and is expected to make at least a few more appearances in the ACL before eventually moving up to one of the White Sox's higher-level affiliates. During his last healthy season in 2022, Foster made 48 appearances out of the White Sox bullpen and turned in a 4.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 45 innings.
