Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Mariners' Yimi Garcia: Placed on injured list
The Mariners placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Tuesday, due to right elbow inflammation.
Garcia will go on the IL with elbow trouble for the second time this season. As a member of the Blue Jays, he landed on the shelf in June due to right elbow neuritis, and his return was delayed due to neck stiffness. He has struggled since joining the Mariners in late July, posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across nine innings, and he has given up at least one earned run in each of his last three outings. Given his prior injury history, Garcia could be sidelined beyond the 15-day window, putting his availability for Seattle's playoff push in jeopardy. The Mariners recalled southpaw Gabe Speier from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.

However, he's allowed just two earned runs over eight frames since being sent to Triple-A at the end of July.

The 26-year-old has appeared in 22 games (nine starts) for the White Sox this season, logging a 5.23 ERA and a 71:42 K:BB across 72.1 innings. He's recovering from a shoulder strain.

Orioles' Nick Vespi: Optioned to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Rill notes that this is the fifth time Vespi has been optioned this season, which is the maximum number allowed before he has to pass through waivers should the O's want to call him up and send him down again. The southpaw has posted a 2.92 ERA and 9:3 K:BB across 12.1 innings during his multiple stints this year in the big leagues.

Blue Jays' Ryan Yarbrough: Nabs win in bulk relief
Yarbrough (5-2) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing three hits and striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in bulk relief.
Ryan Burr opened the contest for Toronto and pitched a scoreless first frame. He surrendered a leadoff single in the second and then turned the ball over to Yarbrough, who followed with five scoreless innings during which he allowed just three singles and a hit batsman. The outing was the longest for Yarbrough since joining the Blue Jays via a trade with the Dodgers on July 30 -- before Thursday, he hadn't pitched more than two innings in an appearance for the Blue Jays. The left-hander has been pitching well of late, giving up only one run across his past nine innings spanning three outings.
