Carson Smith RP | BOS
Mariners closer Carson Smith blows lead in ninth Sunday
Mariners closer Carson Smith might not be the Mariners closer much longer if he continues to perform as he did Sunday against the host Red Sox.
Smith arrived in the ninth with a two-run lead and blew it. Two singles and a grounded resulted in one run and a Travis Shaw single tied the game. Only a toss-out at home prevented him from taking the loss.
The right-hander struck out the side in the 10th after a walk, but he has allowed at least one run in five of his last 10 appearances.

Kendall Graveman RP | ARI
Athletics SP Kendall Graveman clobbered by Orioles
If misery indeed loves company, Athletics starter Kendall Graveman was crazy about his relievers Sunday in Baltimore. The two that followed him to the mound performed worse than he did.
That's little consolation for Gravemen, who was pounded for six runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings to lower his record to 6-9. He walked one and fanned four.
The disaster began with a Gerardo Parra homer in the first inning and continued in the second with five hits, including two run-scoring doubles. An Adam Jones blast in the third made it 6-1 and all but sealed his fate.
Gravemen has lost five consecutive decisions, including two in which he failed to complete four innings. He has surrendered 25 runs in his last 32 2/3 innings pitched to send his ERA soaring to 4.27.
