Athletics starter Jesse Chavez did not fare well in his outing against the Mariners on Tuesday. After his team gave him a 5-0 lead, Chavez allowed six runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
The A's scored five runs over the first two innings, and looked to be heading towards victory. But things started to fall apart for Chavez when he allowed a solo home run to Nelson Cruz and a two-run shot to Logan Morrison in the fourth inning.
Chavez (7-13, 4.00 ERA) then allowed three more runs to score in the fifth, and the Mariners would not relinquish that lead.

Tigers starter Buck Farmer did not do much to cultivate a big lead Monday night in Cincinnati. The result was a no-decision that could have been a win had he continued a strong effort.

The southpaw pitched no-hit ball into the fifth, but home runs by former Tigers shortstop Eugenio Suarez and Brandon Phillips knocked him out of the game in the sixth.
