  • Angels' Hector Santiago: Only lasts 2.2 innings Friday

Santiago allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday.

Santiago gave up three home runs in his short stint, but a three-run sixth inning by the Angels took him off the hook for a loss. He's now failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts, and during that stretch, his ERA has grown from 2.70 to 3.93. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Rangers.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Set to pitch Saturday

Kelly (shoulder) will be activated off the disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Indians, the Boston Globe reports.

Kelly made three starts while out on rehab, including his final outing, when he got up to 92 pitches over 6.1 innings. The radar gun tracked him at 98 miles per hour on his final fastball before leaving the mound. "To the point of the progression of the number of pitches thrown, the velocity that he held, the command of his pitches all have been very solid," said manager John Farrell. "His work here yesterday in the bullpen was strong, so he's set to go."

  • Carson Smith RP | BOS

Red Sox's Carson Smith: Visit to doctor scheduled

Smith (forearm) will be checked out by a doctor in New York on Monday for a second opinion, the Boston Globe reports.

Smith said the pain he's feeling now is "very similar" to what he felt in spring training, when he was shut down with a strained right flexor muscle. He noted some discomfort in his delivery, particularly his slider. After working his way back from the initial soreness, Smith was activated in early May, but has been unable to pitch on consecutive days and has needed multiple days to recover before being used again.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Twins' Trevor May: Continues recent struggles

May allowed a run on two hits (one home run) in a third of an inning in Friday's loss to Toronto. He's given up eight runs in his last two innings over four appearances.

May began the season strong with a 1.89 ERA and 27:8 K:BB ratio in 19 innings. He looked set to possibly take over the closer role with Kevin Jepsen struggling. However, May's implosion the past week may not make him the clear choice if Jepsen continues to struggle as the team's closer with Glen Perkins out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.

  • Tyler Duffey RP | KC

Twins' Tyler Duffey: Struggles against Toronto

Duffy gave up six runs over 5.2 innings on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts to fall to 1-3 in Friday's loss to Toronto.

It was Duffy's first poor outing in five starts since being recalled from Triple-A. He had just two strikeouts after 23 in his prior 24.3 innings. Hopefully it was just an off night against one of the league's better offenses.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Logs 11th save in win over Detroit

Colome worked around one hit, striking out a pair over a scoreless inning to record his 11th save in the Rays' win over Detroit on Friday night.

Colome has provided solid work at the end of the Rays' bullpen, but with Brad Boxberger due back off the disabled list soon, he will reportedly move back to a set-up role. That will be a big hit to his fantasy value, but if Boxberger should struggle, he has proven he is up to the job.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Moves to 3-0 despite shaky start against Detroit

Andriese allowed four runs on five hits, walking two and striking out three while lasting just 5.1 innings in a 7-5 win over Detroit on Friday night.

Andriese (3-0) won his third straight decision, but after two exceptionally strong performances, this one wasn't exactly a masterpiece. He needed 92 pitches (59 for strikes) to record 16 outs, and he was frequently in trouble. Andriese profiles as a swingman, so he can fill multiple roles, including taking a regular turn in the rotation as needed. The Tigers are a tough challenge so this one can probably be at least partially excused, but he'll need to get back on track next time out against Miami.

  • Justin Wilson RP | BOS

Tigers' Justin Wilson: Throws second-straight scoreless inning

Wilson did not allow a baserunner in a scoreless inning of work against Minnesota on Tuesday. He struck out two in the outing.

Wilson has been hit hard in the month of May as he's compiled a 10.50 ERA over 6.0 innings but he's now put together two perfect outings. Thanks to 12 scoreless appearances he manufactured to start the season, the 28-year-old still has a healthy ERA and WHIP to go along with his team-leading 10 holds.

  • Drew VerHagen RP | STL

Tigers' Drew VerHagen: Gives up three earned runs

VerHagen was roughed up Saturday, giving up three earned runs over 1.0 innings against Baltimore.

VerHagen has had a rough go at it so far in 2016 as he's now given up three or more earned runs three times this year. 12 of the 25-year-old's 17 appearances have been scoreless, however, so there are some positives to be said for for the righty's season.

  • Carson Smith RP | BOS

Red Sox's Carson Smith: Probably won't need surgery

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Friday he would be surprised if Smith (forearm) needs surgery, the Boston Globe's Alex Speier reports.

He had an MRI Friday after landing on the 15-day DL, but the results have not yet been announced. Farrell said the symptoms do not indicate surgery will be necessary, but of course that could change in a hurry. Regardless, he should be considered out indefinitely.
