Jalen Beeks RP | TEX
Rays' Jalen Beeks: Could start sometime next series
After being dealt to the Rays on Wednesday, Beeks could be slated to make a start sometime over the weekend, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Beeks was knocked around in his lone start for the Red Sox earlier in the season, but he'll look to bounce back in the first start for his new team. The Rays are scheduled to begin a four-game showdown with the Orioles starting Thursday, so he could take the hill anytime between July 26-29.

Austin Pruitt RP | TEX
Rays' Austin Pruitt: Recalled from Triple-A
Pruitt was promoted from Triple-A Durham ahead of Wednesday's matchup with the Yankees, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
Pruitt was shipped to the minors July 4, but he'll return to the big leagues following the trade of Nathan Eovaldi to Boston. Pruitt has appeared in 17 games out of the bullpen for Tampa Bay this season, and he sits with a 4.18 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 56 innings. He'll likely be deployed in mid-to-high leverage innings during his next stint with the big club.

Ryne Stanek RP | STL
Rays' Ryne Stanek: Slated to open vs. Yankees
Stanek will serve as the opener for Wednesday's series finale against the Yankees, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
Nathan Eovaldi was the scheduled starter, but after he was dealt to the Red Sox, the Rays will call upon Stanek to take the hill for his 14th start of the 2018 campaign. He sports a stellar 1.91 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 47 strikeouts over 37.2 innings this season.

Jalen Beeks RP | TEX
Rays' Jalen Beeks: Dealt to Rays
Beeks was traded from the Red Sox to the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for Nathan Eovaldi, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The Rays figure to utilize Beeks as a starter or multi-inning relief pitcher at the big-league level, per Rosenthal. He's put up decent numbers for Triple-A Pawtucket in 2017, posting a 2.89 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 117:25 K:BB over 87.1 innings. Beeks appeared in his first two major-league games earlier this season, though he was shelled for nine runs over 6.1 innings.

Chih-Wei Hu RP | TB
Rays' Chih-Wei Hu: Sent back to minors
The Rays optioned Hu to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
A corresponding transaction hasn't been announced, but it's expected that Hu's spot on the active roster will be filled by Jonny Venters (hamstring), who is on track to return from the 10-day disabled list. Hu's latest stint with the Rays lasted just two days, with the right-hander making a relief appearance in Tuesday's 4-0 loss. He gave up a run on two hits and struck out four over 2.1 innings in the outing.

Chris Martin RP | TEX
Rangers' Chris Martin: Responds well to bullpen session
Martin (groin) had no issues after throwing a bullpen session Monday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
The next step is to have Martin toss live batting practice Thursday. If the right-hander comes out of that without incident, Martin could start a rehabilitation assignment Sunday. He's been out since July 5.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Saddled with loss Tuesday
Diaz (0-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing an unearned run on two hits while striking out two in one inning against the Giants.
Diaz was tasked with protecting a tie game to start the top of the ninth, but after allowing the game-winning run to get to second with two outs, he allowed the decisive run to score on an infield single and subsequent error by Dee Gordon. It marked the first time he's allowed a run in 11 outings -- a string of appearances that goes back over a month -- so Tuesday's loss shouldn't be any cause for concern.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches 25th save of year
Treinen struck out one in a clean 10th inning Tuesday to secure the save against the Rangers.
Treinen entered the game in the 10th with a three-run lead and shut down the Rangers to earn his 25th save of the year. Treinen had blown two of his last three save chances recently but was back in form in Tuesday's outing. He sports a superb 1.06 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while holding opponents to a .169 batting average. The right-hander also carries a 65:18 K:BB in 51 innings and is 25-for-29 in save opportunities this year.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Struggles in return from DL
Pomeranz (1-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings against the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two.
Pomeranz threw 56 of 89 pitches for strikes and threw a first-pitch strike to only 10 of 22 batters faced. The 29-year-old's first major-league start since late May did not go as planned, and he now has a 6.91 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 41.2 innings heading into his next expected start against the Twins on Sunday.

Dillon Tate RP | TOR
Orioles' Dillon Tate: Headliner in Britton deal
Tate was traded from the Yankees to the Orioles along with Josh Rogers and Cody Carroll in exchange for Zach Britton on Tuesday.
He is the headliner in the package, although his prospect star has faded quite a bit since the Rangers selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 draft. Pitching prospects with that type of pedigree typically don't get traded twice before they reach Triple-A (he was dealt to New York in 2016 as the headliner in the deal that sent Carlos Beltran to Texas) if their outlook is particularly promising. He still has a slight chance to reach a high ceiling -- he will flash several plus pitches -- but he is more likely to make it as a No. 3 or No. 4 starter, or perhaps a late-inning reliever. Tate has now logged 107.2 innings at Double-A, working there with a 3.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 82.2 innings this season. This trade works in Tate's favor, as he would have faced stiffer competition for a rotation spot with the Yankees, and should be given a long leash with Baltimore. He has been assigned to Double-A Bowie, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
