Cionel Perez RP | NYM
Astros' Cionel Perez: Recalled by Houston
Perez was called up from Triple-A Resno on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Perez will rejoin the major-league bullpen after Chris Devenski (hamstring) was placed on the DL in a corresponding move. During four appearances with Houston in July, Perez allowed three earned runs while striking out six in five innings of relief. Look for him to be utilized in low-leverage spots.

Jalen Beeks RP | TEX
Rays' Jalen Beeks: Grabs first win in long relief
Beeks (1-1) allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk over five innings in a win over the Angels on Thursday. He struck out four.
What a difference an outing makes, although Beeks didn't exactly set a high bar in his Tampa debut against the Orioles last Saturday, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits and three walks over 3.1 innings. The southpaw looked considerably more composed over an efficient 71 pitches Thursday, limiting the damage after Hunter Wood had been stellar over the first two innings as the opener. Beeks figures to be utilized in similar fashion moving forward, with his ability to pitch multiple frames making him a natural for the second-man-in role on "bullpen days."

Chris Devenski RP | NYM
Astros' Chris Devenski: On DL with hamstring injury
Devenski was placed on the 10-day disabled list with left hamstring tightness retroactive to Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Devenski will be eligible to return next weekend during the club's four-game set against Seattle. It's unclear as to when Devenski suffered this injury, but manager A.J. Hinch hasn't used him since last Friday. His past two outings were clearly indicative of an underlying issue, as he allowed eight earned runs off seven hits and two walks without recording an out against the Rangers and Angels in his lone pair of appearances since the All-Star break. The Astros recalled Cionel Perez in a corresponding move.

Adam Kolarek RP | LAA
Rays' Adam Kolarek: Called up from Durham
Kolarek was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE reports.
Kolarek has appeared in seven games for the Rays this season, logging a 9.35 ERA and 1.85 WHIP with just two strikeouts in 8.2 innings of relief. Look for him to be utilized in low-leverage spots during his time with the team.

Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS
Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Joins Yankees on Friday
Kahnle was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, DJ Eberle of the Times Leader reports.
The Yankees are optimistic that Kahnle will be available for Friday's contest in Boston, but there's a chance he won't arrive on time after being promoted just five hours prior to the first pitch. Kahnle has spent a majority of the 2018 campaign working out the kinks at the Triple-A level, which includes a concerning dip in velocity from a season ago. Across his past 17 appearances for the RailRiders dating back to June 15, he's logged a 1.62 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with 23 strikeouts in 16.2 innings of relief.

Ryne Stanek RP | STL
Rays' Ryne Stanek: Opening Friday's contest
Stanek will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher in Friday's game against the White Sox.
It's the second "start" of the week for Stanek, who pitched one inning as the opener in the Rays' 10-6 win over the Angels on Tuesday. Stanek hasn't covered more than two innings in any of his 35 appearances this season, so that will likely represent the upper bound of his workload Friday. Austin Pruitt and Jaime Schultz seem likely to be deployed as the Rays' primary long relievers once Stanek exits the contest.

Ariel Jurado RP | TEX
Rangers' Ariel Jurado: Staying in rotation
Jurado will remain part of the Rangers' five-man rotation, Dic Humphrey of MLB.com reports.
Manager Jeff Banister declared he's "pretty well set" with the rotation he currently has, which is good news for Jurado. The right-hander was summoned from Double-A Frisco to make a spot start last Saturday for the recently traded Cole Hamels. "Right now, we'll stay in order. That's always subject to change, but right now we're pretty well set," said the manager. Jurado was the winning pitcher in his first start and is scheduled to start Friday against the Orioles.

Cory Gearrin RP | NYY
Rangers' Cory Gearrin: Could get save opportunities
Gearrin was mentioned by manager Jeff Banister as a reliever that may get save opportunities going forward, Dic Humphrey of MLB.com reports.
The conventional thought was that Jose Leclerc would fill in as the closer after Texas traded Keone Kela, but Banister said Thursday he will not name a specific closer. He intends to retain the flexibility to utilize any one of a trio that includes Gearrin, Leclerc and Chris Martin. Those are the three relievers he considers his one-inning pitchers. The Rangers have not had a save opportunity since trading Kela.
-
Chris Martin RP | TEX
Rangers' Chris Martin: Part of closer committee
Martin is one of three pitchers that manager Jeff Banister indicated could get save opportunities, Dic Humphrey of MLB.com reports.
The working assumption after closer Keone Kela was traded was that Jose Leclerc would be the primary closer, but the manager sent a different message Thursday. Banister said he feels he has three one-inning pitchers -- Martin, Leclerc and Cory Gearrin -- and refused to name a specific closer. He wants to retain the flexibility to utilize any of the trio when save opportunities are presented. The Rangers have not had a save situation since trading away Kela.

Mike Hauschild RP | HOU
Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Earns first major-league win
Hauschild (1-0) allowed four hits and one walk across six scoreless innings to record the win Thursday against the Mariners.
Hauschild had a busy Thursday, joining the Blue Jays and earning his first major league win in one day. After one inning from Tyler Clippard, Hauschild entered the game and held the Mariners scoreless on the strength of seven groundballs and six strikeouts. His role with the big-league club is unclear going forward, though he posted a 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP across 97 innings at Triple-A Fresno as a member of the Astros organization this season.
