Chapman walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his second save of the season in a 3-1 win over Atlanta.

The flamethrowing lefty hasn't had many save chances yet due to the Yankees' struggles, but Chapman has been all but untouchable to begin the season. He has yet to give up a run through five innings over five appearances with a 13:2 K:BB.

Loaisiga (2-0) picked up the win Tuesday in a 3-1 victory over Atlanta, striking out one in a perfect eighth inning.

The right-hander got rewarded for another strong appearance when the Yankees pushed two runs across in the bottom of the frame. Loaisiga has been a key part of the team's bullpen in the early going, posting a 1.64 ERA and 12:1 K:BB through his first 11 innings, but he's still looking for his first hold or save.

Barnes allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Barnes was called upon to maintain a two-run lead in the ninth inning. Though he allowed an infield single with one out, he otherwise had little trouble recording his third save in as many chances this season. It was unclear whether Barnes or Adam Ottavino would work in the closer role for Boston to begin the campaign, but the former has recorded three of the team's four saves -- the other went into extra innings -- and has pitched effectively in the role.

Kay won't start Wednesday against the Red Sox but could still work as a bulk reliever, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The 26-year-old lined up to start Wednesday's contest, but Trent Thornton will instead work as the opener. Kay and Tommy Milone are the primary candidates to follow as the primary pitcher, but manager Charlie Montoyo neglected to specify who is likely to work behind Thornton.

Thornton will start Wednesday's game at Boston, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The 27-year-old will make his first start of the season in Wednesday's series finale, and he figures to be limited to a few innings since he's topped out at 34 pitches through five appearances this season. Anthony Kay and Tommy Milone should be in the mix as bulk options behind Thornton.

Valdez earned a four-out save Tuesday that included three strikeouts.

With two outs and one on in the eighth, Valdez was called upon to replace Jace Fry and finish off the inning. He did so with ease, sending Jesus Aguilar down on strikes. The 36-year-old reentered in the ninth frame and continued his success, retiring all three batters he faced. It was the fourth save of the season for Valdez, who holds a 2-0 record to go with a shiny 0.96 ERA and 0.86 WHIP.

Stiever will be recalled from the alternate training site Wednesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old was also promoted as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, though he didn't appear in either contest. Manager Tony La Russa has yet to decide on a starter for Wednesday's series finale, and Stiever could factor into the mix either as a traditional starter or a long reliever.

Fulmer's scheduled start Tuesday was postponed and he will start Game 1 of a doubleheader Wednesday against the Pirates.

Fulmer will get an extra day of rest and will have a better chance of securing a win in a seven-inning game Wednesday. He will pitch opposite Tyler Anderson.

Honeywell was recalled prior to Tuesday's game in Kansas City, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He will take the place of Cody Reed (hand/finger) in the bullpen in the short term. Honeywell dazzled in a perfect two-inning appearance against the Yankees in his big-league debut earlier this season.

Burdi was optioned to the alternate training site Tuesday.

He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out three in two innings in his lone appearance in Boston on Tuesday. Alex McRae's contract was selected in a corresponding move.
