  • Joe Barlow RP | TEX

Rangers' Joe Barlow: Records second save

Barlow grabbed the save during Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Phillies with a scoreless ninth inning. He had one strikeout and didn't allow a baserunner.

Barlow needed only eight pitches to retire the side in order and pick up his second save of the season. The 26-year-old was named the team's closer by manager Chris Woodward just over a week ago, and he's converted both his save chances thus far. The right-hander has a 2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB through 7.1 innings this season.

  • Liam Hendriks RP | CHC

White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Closes sixth game

Hendriks earned the save, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning in a 3-1 win Tuesday over the Cubs.

Hendriks did not allow a ball out of the infield and retired the Cubs in order with only 10 pitches. While the closer doesn't necessarily have impressive numbers over the first month of the season, he has converted six consecutive save opportunities around a back injury. Consistency has been an issue as he's allowed no hits five times and two or more hits five times in his first 10 appearances. He's averaging better than 13 punchouts per nine innings for the fourth straight season, one of the main reasons why he's been able to pitch around trouble.

  • Austin Warren RP | NYM

Angels' Austin Warren: Suffers broken nose

Warren was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a nasal fracture, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Warren suffered the injury during batting practice Tuesday, as he was struck in the face by a stray ball. The 25-year-old has a 4.32 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB through 8.1 innings this season but will be unavailable for at least the next 15 days.

  • Nate Pearson RP | KC

Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Completes another bullpen session

Pearson (illness) tossed a 26-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Pearson was able to mix in all of his pitches during the throwing session and said afterward that he felt good. The right-hander looks to be fully healthy again after he was diagnosed with mononucleosis in early April, but he'll still need more time to build up his pitch count. Pearson is expected to report to the Blue Jays' spring facility in Florida to continue his ramp-up program before eventually making his way to Triple-A Buffalo for a rehab assignment.

  • Josh Winder RP | ARI

Twins' Josh Winder: Likely to get another start

Winder is expected to make his second straight turn through the Minnesota rotation Friday in Oakland, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Winder turned heads in his first big-league start Sunday in Tampa Bay, striking out seven over six scoreless frames en route to claiming the win. Despite the excellent outing, Winder wasn't a lock to receive a second start this week, but the Twins' decision to have Sonny Gray (hamstring) make one more minor-league rehab appearance paves the way for the rookie to get another turn. Barring any setbacks in his upcoming outing with Triple-A St. Paul, Gray should be ready to return from the 10-day injured list next week, so Winder still doesn't look like he'll have much longevity in the big-league rotation.

  • Albert Abreu RP | CIN

Rangers' Albert Abreu: Out with ankle sprain

Abreu was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a sprained ankle, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Abreu lasted pitched Friday against Atlanta and gave up a run over 1.1 innings, so it's unclear when exactly he suffered the injury. He'll be eligible to be activated in mid-March, though it's unclear exactly how long he's expected to be sidelined.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Rays' Ryan Yarbrough: Activated for Tuesday's start

Yarbrough (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting Tuesday against the Athletics, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

The left-hander is back from the injured list as expected and will make his season debut after landing on the shelf with a groin injury April 10. Yarbrough was built up to 59 pitches in his final rehab start with Triple-A Durham last week, so he'll likely be limited to around 70-to-80 pitches Tuesday.

  • Glenn Otto RP | HOU

Rangers' Glenn Otto: Not starting Tuesday

Otto isn't starting Tuesday against the Phillies as previously scheduled since Jon Gray (knee) was activated off the injured list to start, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Otto has a 2.89 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB over 9.1 innings through two outings, but he'll be bumped from Tuesday's start with Gray back from a brief stint on the shelf. It remains to be seen whether Otto has his outing pushed back a couple days or if the Rangers opt to use him out of the bullpen this week since the team has scheduled off days Thursday and Monday.

  • Josh Taylor RP | KC

Red Sox's Josh Taylor: Hits snag in rehab

Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Taylor (back) has experienced a setback in his rehab program and has temporarily been shut down from throwing, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Taylor has been pulled off his rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester, where he had made three appearances out of the bullpen. His most recent outing came April 27, so Taylor has presumably been dealing with an aggravation of the mid-back strain for a few days. Cora said the southpaw would be sent in for further testing before the Red Sox determine a timeline for when Taylor might be able to resume a throwing program. The skipper noted that at this stage, surgery isn't in consideration for Taylor, who has yet to make his season debut for the big club.

  • Lou Trivino RP | PHI

Athletics' Lou Trivino: Back from COVID-19 IL

The Athletics reinstated Trivino (illness) from COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Infielder Nick Allen was dispatched to Triple-A Las Vegas following Monday's loss to the Rays to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Trivino, who spent two weeks on the IL after testing positive for the virus. Trivino had been serving as Oakland's closer prior to being deactivated, but he may not immediately step back into the role after he was roughed up for five runs over one inning in his lone rehab appearance at Las Vegas over the weekend. Moreover, Dany Jimenez has performed well at the back end of the bullpen while Trivino was sidelined, converting all three of his save chances while striking out seven and allowing two unearned runs in six innings.
