Carlton's contract was selected by the Tigers on Friday.

Carlton made four relief appearances for the Tigers last season, giving up two runs in 3.2 innings while striking out one batter and walking four. In 15 innings for Triple-A Toledo this season, he owns a 3.60 ERA and a 30.2 percent strikeout rate.

Pressly struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning of Thursday's win over the Rangers.

Pressly was set to enter in a save situation, but the Astros scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Even so, he was impressive while striking out the side on just 14 pitches. Pressly has made four appearances since coming off the injured list, with his last three being scoreless. Overall, he has a 3.68 ERA with a 6:2 K:BB across 7.1 frames.

Graveman allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth inning to record a hold Thursday against the Royals.

Graveman was tasked with protecting a three-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single but induced a groundout and double play to avoid any danger. It was a bounceback effort for Graveman, as he allowed three earned runs on four hits in his previous outing. For the season, Graveman owns a 2.79 ERA with an 18:5 K:BB and nine holds across 19.1 frames.

Hendriks allowed two hits and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Thursday against the Royals.

Hendriks was tasked with protecting a three-run lead, but he made things interesting by allowing two of the first three batters he faced to reach base. However, he ultimately escaped the jam to tally his 12th save of the campaign. Hendriks has turned in three consecutive scoreless appearances and has a 3.93 ERA with a 28:5 K:BB across 18.1 frames for the season.

Otto (1-2) allowed two earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two across six innings to take the loss Thursday against the Astros.

Otto allowed both of his earned runs in the first inning, when he surrendered three hits and also plunked a batter. Though he limited the damage, Otto was consistently working out of trouble as he allowed at least one baserunner in all but one frame. After a disastrous eight-run performance his last turn through the rotation, Otto rebounded and has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four of his five starts this season. However, he still owns a 5.55 ERA with an unimpressive 18:13 K:BB across 24.1 innings.

Speier (0-1) took the loss Thursday versus the White Sox. He allowed a run on three hits and recorded only one out, a strikeout.

Speier got into trouble when tasked with pitching the seventh inning. He allowed singles to three of the four batters he faced, with Adam Engel knocking in the go-ahead run for the White Sox. After 11.1 scoreless innings to start the season, Speier's experienced some regression with four runs allowed in his last two innings across three appearances. The southpaw still owns a 2.70 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB through 13.1 innings, but he'll need to settle back in after some shaky outings in the last week.

Hernandez allowed three earned runs on five hits and five walks while striking out three across three innings Thursday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Hernandez struggled to find the strike zone as he walked two batters in the first inning and an additional three in the third. He managed to effectively work around the free passes, but he allowed four consecutive singles -- two of which didn't leave the infield -- to begin the fourth frame that accounted for two of his earned runs. Hernandez has had disastrous results across his last three starts, surrendering 18 earned runs across 11.2 frames. Overall, he has maintained a 9.10 ERA with a 16:20 K:BB for the season.

Brasier was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Brasier was optioned to make room on the roster for Michael Wacha (side), who will start Friday's game against Seattle. Brasier began the season effectively, but he has allowed seven earned runs across his last 3.1 innings.

Stephan (2-1) took the loss Thursday versus the Reds. He allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning without recording a strikeout.

Stephan was called upon to pitch the eighth inning, and it was his own throwing error that allowed the second of the Reds' three runs in the frame to score. He has allowed six runs (five earned) across 6.2 innings during May after giving up just one unearned run over 10 frames in April. It shakes out to a 2.70 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB for the right-hander, who has added a save and three holds in 16 appearances.

Krehbiel allowed a walk and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning to earn a hold in Thursday's 9-6 win over the Yankees.

Krehbiel is up to five holds in 17 appearances this year after protecting a one-run lead Thursday. While he's started to work in high-leverage spots, he's allowed five runs across 7.1 innings in May after a solid April. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander has a 3.24 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB across 16.2 innings. His five holds put him behind only Dillon Tate (six) among Orioles relievers.
