Swanson (elbow) is slated to make one more rehab appearance with High-A Everett before rejoining the Mariners, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Swanson was impressive while firing a scoreless second inning Saturday against High-A Eugene, and the Mariners will apparently afford him a second tune-up opportunity. Assuming all goes off without a hitch in that upcoming appearance, Swanson is slated for activation before the start of an upcoming homestand Friday against the Red Sox.

The Twins will call up Sands from Triple-A St. Paul to start Tuesday's game against the Yankees in Minnesota, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Sands is most likely just making a spot start for the Twins, who could have either Joe Ryan (illness) or Josh Winder (shoulder) ready to return from the COVID-19-related injured list and 15-day injured list, respectively, by the weekend. The 24-year-old Sands has previously made three appearances (one start) for Minnesota this season, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out 10 over eight innings.

The Rangers recalled Sborz from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday and designated him as their 27th man for their doubleheader with the Guardians.

Sborz will likely be in store for a brief stay with the Rangers, though the fact that Texas placed another reliever (Brett Martin) on the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday could give the 28-year-old a chance to stick around in the big leagues once the doubleheader is completed. Through his eight relief appearances with Texas this season, Sborz has compiled a 10.80 ERA and 1.92 WHIP over 8.1 innings.

Borucki, just traded to the Mariners on Saturday, earned his third hold in a win over the Astros on Monday, getting one out to close out the seventh inning.

Borucki's Mariners debut took all of two pitches but was effective, earning him his first hold since May 20. The southpaw gave up two earned runs in each of his last two appearances with the Blue Jays prior to his trade, so a clean outing of any duration is certainly a welcome sight as he tries to reset in a new locale.

The Rangers placed Martin on the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday.

Texas hasn't specified whether Martin was deactivated due to a positive test for the virus or due to symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, but either way, he won't be available for at least Tuesday's doubleheader with the Guardians. The Rangers will replace the reliever on the roster with infielder Andy Ibanez, who is starting at third base and batting ninth in the first game of the twin bill.

Taylor (back) threw a bullpen session Sunday and could face hitters soon, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Taylor will throw one more bullpen session this week then face live batters. The left-hander was one of Boston's top relievers in 2021, posting a 2.06 ERA over his final 52 outings. He's spent all of 2022 on the injured list due to a low-back strain and could be a boost to a beleaguered bullpen.

Payamps left Monday's game against the Blue Jays after being struck by a line drive back up the middle, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Payamps was able to record the out after being struck, but he was then forced to exit the contest after being looked at briefly by the team trainer. He'll be considered day-to-day until the nature of the injury is disclosed.

King (3-1) struck out the side in a perfect inning to earn the win over Detroit on Sunday.

The game went into an extra inning, and King was tasked with the 10th frame. The right-hander excelled, striking out all three batters he faced on 11 pitches. He was rewarded with his third win as a result of New York scoring in the bottom of the inning. King has posted a 2.90 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 42:6 K:BB over 31 innings while notching seven holds and one save on the campaign.

Pearson (illness) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.

The transaction has no bearing on Pearson's return timeline, as he's been out since the start of the season after a bout of mononucleosis interrupted his spring training and is already eligible to return from any injured list. He's made a pair of rehab appearances but may need a handful more before he's activated from the injured list.

Gage's contract was selected by the Blue Jays on Monday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Gage is a 29-year-old lefty with no big-league experience to his name. He's showed promise for Triple-A Buffalo this season, however, posting a 1.08 ERA and 32.3 percent strikeout rate in 16.2 innings of relief. Jeremy Beasley was optioned in a corresponding move.
