  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Reinstated from injured list

Dickerson (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Dickerson spent nearly two weeks at Triple-A Sacramento on a rehab assignment, and he went 6-for-11 with a home run, three doubles, four runs and two RBI across the last three games. The 31-year-old isn't guaranteed an everyday role now that he's healthy since LaMonte Wade and Austin Slater are available, but he'll rejoin the active roster after Darin Ruf (oblique) landed on the 10-day IL on Thursday. Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Padres but should be available off the bench.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Lands on 10-day IL

Ruf was placed on the injured list with a right oblique strain Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 20.

Ruf hadn't appeared in either of the last two games, and his absence was apparently due to an oblique issue. The severity of the injury isn't yet clear, and whether he's able to return prior to the end of the regular season remains to be seen. Wilmer Flores could see a slight uptick in playing time as the primary backup at first base, while Alex Dickerson (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Luis Torrens DH | NYM

Mariners' Luis Torrens: Not starting Thursday

Torrens will sit Thursday against Oakland.

Torrens sits for the third time in the Mariners' last four games. He's been the Mariners' primary designated hitter throughout the second half despite his modest .234/.297/.420 slash line. Kyle Seager will fill that role Thursday, with Dylan Moore taking Seager's usual spot at third base.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: On bench Thursday

Blackmon isn't starting Thursday's game against the Dodgers.

Blackmon had started each of the last three games, and he went 4-for-11 with three doubles, three runs and an RBI. Raimel Tapia, Garrett Hampson and Sam Hilliard will start in the outfield from left to right.

  • Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: Still not starting

Vogelbach remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

Vogelbach has taken on a bench role recently and is out of the lineup for a fourth straight game. He's appeared as a pinch hitter in each of the last two contests and earned a walk in both plate appearances. Eduardo Escobar will shift to first base while Luis Urias starts at the hot corner Thursday.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Indians' Harold Ramirez: Returns to lineup

Ramirez (shoulder) is starting the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Ramirez was out of the lineup in each of the last three games, but he'll be back in action during Thursday's matinee. He's starting in left field and batting seventh.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Draws four walks

Ohtani went 0-for-2 with four walks in Wednesday's loss to Houston.

After hitting his 45th home run Tuesday, Ohtani was mostly avoided by Houston pitchers Wednesday. Two of the four free passes he was was given were intentional, including one in the 10th inning with nobody out. Ohtani's power output this season has likely contributed to his career-high 13.6 percent walk rate.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Pulled due to soreness

Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two total runs and three total RBI in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Angels. He was replaced in the field in the eighth inning due to soreness, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports.

Playing left field and batting third in the order, Alvarez produced two big hits for Houston in the victory, launching a 456-foot two-run homer in the first inning and doubling in another run in the eighth. However, he was replaced in the bottom of the eighth frame with the score tied 5-5, and Astros manager Dusty Baker said after the game that Alvarez was "sore." It's unclear if this will be a multi-game injury, though Baker stated that Alvarez "probably won't play" in Thursday's series finale following the extra-innings win.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Homers in victory

McCutchen went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Orioles.

The outfielder took reliever Eric Hanhold deep in the sixth inning, scoring Bryce Harper in the process. It was his 25th home run of the season, his highest number since 2017. The 35-year-old has now secured a hit in five of his last six contests, including five extra-base hits.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Managing foot issue

Buxton is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs due to a foot injury, though he's available to pinch hit off the bench, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Buxton went 2-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base during Tuesday's contest, but he was also hit by a pitch in the foot that will sidelined him for at least one game. He should be considered day-to-day while Nick Gordan mans center field for the Twins.
