  • Pirates' Daniel Vogelbach: Goes to bench Tuesday

Vogelbach is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Since lefty Daniel Castano is on the hill and the lefty-hitting Vogelbach started in each of the previous three games, manager Derek Shelton likely viewed Tuesday as a good opportunity to give Vogelbach a breather. Yoshi Tsutsugo will serve as the Pirates' designated hitter.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: On bench Tuesday

Martinez isn't in the lineup Tuesday in Tampa Bay, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

It appears to be a regular day off for Martinez, who has played every day since the beginning of July and has slashed .317/.349/.512 in that stretch. Rafael Devers is the designated hitter Tuesday.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Yankees' Matt Carpenter: Six-game starting streak ends

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Since joining the Yankees in late May, Carpenter has turned in a monstrous 1.306 OPS in 77 plate appearances, which has allowed him to push for more playing time in an already crowded lineup. Even with American League MVP candidate Aaron Judge taking a seat Tuesday, the Yankees won't have room for Carpenter in the starting nine. Carpenter will hit the bench after starts in each of the past six games between designated hitter, left field and right.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

    Mariners' Jesse Winker: Suspension ends

The Mariners reinstated Winker on Monday after he completed his six-game suspension.

One of three Mariners players handed a suspension for his role in a June 26 benches-clearing brawl with the Angels, Winker was initially handed a seven-game ban before it was reduced to six following an appeal. He ended up missing the entirety of the Mariners' six-game slate last week, but he should be ready to reclaim an everyday role in left field or at designated hitter in the final week before the All-Star break.

  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Impresses in first week at Triple-A

Horwitz has gone 9-for-23 with a solo home run, four doubles, two walks and two additional runs in six games since the Blue Jays promoted him from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo on July 5.

The 24-year-old has dabbled at first base and in left field in the minors this season, but it'll be his bat that will determine whether he gets a look in Toronto down the road. At least through one week of action at the Triple-A level, Horwitz has proven worthy of the promotion, which came after he slashed .293/.403/.513 in 281 plate appearances at Double-A.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Guardians' Franmil Reyes: Three hits, steal in win

Reyes went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Reyes had not attempted a steal this season prior to Monday when he stole second after a sixth-inning single. The 27-year-old doesn't have a lot of speed in his game -- he's more of a slugger, though he's also struggled in that area this year. Reyes owns a .222/.266/.377 slash line with eight home runs, 26 RBI and 20 runs scored through 222 plate appearances. He's recorded multiple hits in four of 11 games in July, batting .289 (13-for-45) this month.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Supplies three hits

Belt (knee) went 3-for-3 with a double in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Belt missed Sunday's game with knee tenderness, but it was never expected to be a long-term absence. The first baseman was perfect at the plate Monday in his second straight multi-hit effort before he was lifted for pinch hitter Austin Slater in the eighth inning. Belt has gone 6-for-7 across his last three games. He's still batting a mediocre .232, but he's posted a .745 OPS with six home runs, five doubles, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stolen bases in 48 contests. Belt should continue to play regularly versus right-handed pitchers, but he's often been on the bench against southpaws.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Yankees' Matt Carpenter: Bat remains scorching

Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Though Sunday wasn't a great day from a team standpoint for the Yankees, Carpenter continued to impress with his third straight multi-hit performance. The veteran has gone 7-for-9 with two walks, two homers and four RBI over that stretch, and his season slash line now stands at an eye-popping .344/.447/.859 with 10 homers and 22 RBI over 77 plate appearances. He was rarely getting into the starting lineup near the end of June, but manager Aaron Boone has found a way to get his bat into the starting nine nearly every day in July, so Carpenter should be rostered in most fantasy leagues for as long as he remains hot.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Belts 22nd homer Sunday

Stanton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to Boston on Sunday.

Stanton put the Yankees on the board in the first inning with his two-run blast to right-center field. The long ball was his third in his past seven contests, though he is only 5-for-28 over that stretch. In fact, Stanton has been in all-or-nothing mode for over a month -- since June 7, 11 of his 17 hits have left the park, and he's batting just .167 over that span.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Not starting Monday

Ruf isn't starting Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Ruf went 1-for-5 with a run and two strikeouts during Sunday's series finale against the Padres, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Brandon Belt is serving as the designated hitter while Luis Gonzalez enters the lineup in right field.
