Byron Buxton DH | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Logs fourth steal
Buxton went 0-for-5 with a stolen base, a hit-by-pitch and three strikeouts in Saturday's 5-3 extra-innings loss to the Angels.
Buxton didn't get much going at the plate Saturday, but he was able to generate a little value in his one trip on base. The steal was his fourth of the year and his second in his last nine games, a span in which he's hit just .233 (7-for-30). Buxton has started each of the last two contests in center field, though he may be due for a rest soon as the Twins continue to manage the oft-injured outfielder's workload. He's slashing .219/.300/.537 with 27 home runs, 49 RBI and 58 runs scored through 85 games this season.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Sparks comeback
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Twins.
Ohtani got the Angels on the board with his eighth-inning blast. In the 10th, he was intentionally walked, but he got doubled off at first base after Luis Rengifo lined out to center field. The homer was Ohtani's fourth in August and his 26th of the year. The superstar is slashing .253/.346/.499 with 67 RBI, 63 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 474 plate appearances.

Harold Ramirez DH | WAS
Rays' Harold Ramirez: Ready for rehab assignment
Ramirez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Ramirez took batting practice Saturday and apparently felt well afterward. Topkin notes that Ramirez could be back within the next week. Ramirez has filled several roles with the Rays this season -- he's played at first base, in the outfield and at designated hitter -- and that is likely to continue upon his return.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Nearing rehab assignment
Stanton (Achilles) is targeting going through a full pregame routine by Monday and will hopefully begin a rehab assignment next week, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.
Achilles tendinitis has kept Stanton on the sidelines since late July, but he's made progress in recent days. The Yankees still have a comfortable 10-game lead atop the American League East, so they can afford to be cautious with Stanton, but it appears as though he's trending in the right direction.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Managing thumb soreness
Belt isn't starting Saturday against the Pirates due to thumb soreness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Belt has gone hitless in 10 at-bats over his last three games, and it's possible that he was hindered by his thumb injury. Manager Gabe Kapler didn't sound too concerned about the issue prior to Saturday's matchup, so Belt should be considered day-to-day for now.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Not starting Saturday
Belt isn't in the lineup Saturday against Pittsburgh, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Belt will get a day off after he went 0-for-10 with a run, an RBI and two walks over the last three games. Tommy La Stella is taking over at first base and batting seventh.
-
Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Not in lineup
Cabrera will sit Saturday against the White Sox.
Cabrera sits for the third time in four games. He has just two hits in his last 10 games, dropping his season slash line to .266/.318/.328 in 95 contests overall. Kerry Carpenter will be the designated hitter Saturday.
-
Christopher Morel 1B | MIA
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Takes seat Saturday
Morel isn't starting Saturday against the Reds.
Morel went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Thursday against Cincinnati and will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Zach McKinstry is starting at the hot corner and batting ninth.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Astros' Michael Brantley: Transferred to 60-day IL
Brantley (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
Brantley's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural since the outfielder recently underwent a season-ending arthroscopic labral repair on his right shoulder. Whether he'll be able to return to the field in time for spring training in 2023 isn't yet clear.

Seth Beer DH | PIT
Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Resting Saturday
Beer isn't starting Saturday against the Rockies.
Beer went 0-for-3 during Friday's loss to the Rockies, and he'll retreat to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Emmanuel Rivera is serving as the designated hitter and batting second.
