Brad Miller DH | SD
Rangers' Brad Miller: Remains on bench
Miller will sit Friday against the Tigers.
Miller will ride the pine for a third game in a row. Mark Mathias will start at designated hitter and bat seventh versus Detroit.
-
Bryce Harper DH | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Back in action
Harper (thumb) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday and will bat cleanup while serving as the designated hitter Friday against the Pirates, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Harper hasn't played in two months after fracturing his left thumb when a pitch hit his hand, but he's ready to go after just a pair of rehab games. He could hardly have done more to show he was ready in those two contests, as he went 5-for-8 with two homers and two doubles. He was having an excellent year prior to the injury, slashing .318/.385/.599 with 15 homers in 64 games, and he'll try to continue that form down the stretch as the Phillies look to end the league's second-longest playoff drought.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Sitting Friday
Vogelbach is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Rockies.
Vogelbach will get a breather after he went 0-for-3 with a walk and strikeout in Thursday's win. Tyler Naquin will take over at designated hitter and bat fifth against Colorado.

Harold Ramirez DH | WAS
Rays' Harold Ramirez: Drives in three
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Angels.
Ramirez delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning, and he now has a hit in nine straight games since returning from the injured list. He's hit .333 in that span while also chipping in six runs scored and nine RBI. Overall, he's put together a strong .330/.373/.448 slash line across 303 plate appearances on the season.

Mike Ford DH | MIN
Angels' Mike Ford: Notches two hits in Angels debut
Ford went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Rays on Thursday.
Ford signed with the Angels on Wednesday and was brought up to the big club the following day. He struck out in his first at-bat but followed with consecutive singles before fanning again in his final plate appearance. Ford should see plenty of playing time with Jared Walsh out for the season after being diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Plates three runs in return
Stanton went 1-for-4 with a walk and three RBI in Thursday's 13-4 rout of Oakland.
Stanton was activated from the injured list prior to the game after he missed over a month due to an Achilles injury. The slugger wasted little time reintroducing himself to the offense, driving in two runs with a single in the second inning. Stanton produced another RBI as a result of walking with the bases loaded in the following frame, giving him his ninth performance with at least three RBI on the campaign. Stanton's bat is a welcome addition to a Yankees offense that largely struggled during the later stages of his absence.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Hitting third in return
Stanton (Achilles) is hitting third while serving as the designated hitter Thursday against the Athletics.
Stanton was activated from the injured list earlier Thursday and will immediately re-enter the lineup. Though he's split time fairly evenly between right field and designated hitter throughout the season, Stanton will likely be given light defensive duties for the foreseeable future. DJ LeMahieu was forced to the bench Thursday as the Yankees shuffled their lineup for Stanton's return.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Activated by Yankees
Stanton (Achilles) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Stanton was expected to rejoin the Yankees on Thursday since he's been on a rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset over the last few days. The 32-year-old went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts over two Double-A games, but more importantly he feels healthy after the rehab games. Stanton will likely serve as the primary designated hitter now that he's back on the active roster as the Yankees attempt to ease him back into action after missing just under a month.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: MRI coming Friday
Belt will undergo an MRI on his inflamed right knee Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
According to Danny Emerman of KNBR.com, Belt's right knee injury has been described as a chronic concern that could threaten the longevity of his career. Belt has required multiple surgeries on the knee during his 12-year career and has already had the knee drained three times this season alone. For the time being, the Giants are hoping the MRI will reveal nothing concerning, keeping the door open for Belt to play again in 2022 if his knee responds well to rest. While Belt is out of action, Wilmer Flores will likely serve as the Giants' primary option at first base.

Bryce Harper DH | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Returning Friday
Harper (thumb) will be reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Harper isn't playing at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, but he'll go through a workout and is set to be activated by the Phillies ahead of Friday's series opener against the Pirates. The 29-year-old performed well over two games during his rehab assignment, going 5-for-8 with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI and three runs. Harper is unlikely to play in the outfield down the stretch but should serve as the Phillies' everyday designated hitter once reinstated to the active roster.
