Padres' Matt Carpenter: Sitting out against lefty

Bryce Harper DH | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Not ready for first base action
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that it will be at least another month before Harper (elbow) plays first base, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Harper continues to throw on the side and will soon increase the distance of those workouts to 90 feet, but the Phillies won't rush the 30-year-old slugger into any kind of defensive duty after he returned far earlier than anticipated from Tommy John surgery. He's slashed .314/.386/.490 with two home runs through 13 games out of the DH spot since being activated May 2.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: On bench again Friday
Vogelbach is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Guardians.
Vogelbach will be on the bench for the fifth time in six games Friday as Mark Vientos takes over at designated hitter and bats seventh. Vogelbach no longer appears to be a lock to be in the lineup against right-handers, as New York faces righty Cal Quantrill in the series opener Friday against Cleveland.

Joey Meneses DH | NYM
Nationals' Joey Meneses: Back from paternity list
Meneses was reinstated from the paternity list Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Meneses will return to the Nationals after he missed the team's last two contests while attending the birth of his child. He'll step back into his everyday role while Jake Alu heads back to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Blasts 10th homer
Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI against the Orioles in a 6-5 win Thursday.
Ohtani put the Angels on the board with a solo shot in the first inning, and he capped his performance with an infield single that plated the game-winning run in the eighth. The two-way star is up to 10 long balls on the campaign, which puts him in a three-way tie for the team lead. Ohtani has added 31 RBI, 26 runs and six stolen bases along with a .292/.362/.542 slash line as a hitter.

Luis Torrens DH | NYM
Nationals' Luis Torrens: Signs minors deal with Nats
Torrens signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Nationals.
Torrens will join the roster at Triple-A Rochester. The 27-year-old catcher slashed .250/.318/.300 over 13 major-league games earlier this season with the Cubs before then spending less than a week in the Orioles organization. He's a career .227/.289/.352 hitter in the bigs.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Mets' Mark Canha: Sitting out Thursday
Canha is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Rays.
Canha has slashed just .227/.300/.371 through 39 games (150 plate appearances) this season. Getting on base is usually his calling card, but it hasn't happened enough this year. Tommy Pham, Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil will start across the outfield for the Mets on Thursday afternoon.
-
Mark Vientos DH | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Not in lineup Thursday
Vientos is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Rays.
Vientos slugged a two-run homer Wednesday in his season debut with the Mets, building on his blistering start to the year at Triple-A Syracuse, but he'll head to the bench for Thursday's series finale at Citi Field. Daniel Vogelbach will serve as New York's designated hitter.

Franmil Reyes DH | WAS
Nationals' Franmil Reyes: Gets minors deal from Nationals
Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Thursday, Talk Nats reports.
Reyes was released by the Royals a week ago but has quickly latched on in another organization. The 27-year-old batted just .186/.231/.288 with a 36.9 percent strikeout rate during his time in Kansas City but figures to get another shot soon on a rebuilding Nats club.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Power surge continues
Soler went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.
He crushed a MacKenzie Gore fastball to center field in the fourth inning to put the Marlins in the lead for good. Soler has gone yard in back-to-back games and has launched six of his 11 homers on the season over the last 12 contests, a stretch in which the 31-year-old is slashing .326/.404/.739 with 14 RBI.
