Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Begins hitting progression
Rooker (oblique) has begun a hitting progression, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
It's a big step for the 31-year-old, though there remains no timetable for his return to the active roster. Rooker has been shelved for the past week-and-a-half with a right oblique strain and could need a few rehab games before returning to the Athletics' lineup.

Christopher Morel 1B | MIA
Marlins' Christopher Morel: Closing in on rehab assignment
Morel (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville during the upcoming week, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
The 26-year-old was given an estimated timeline of 4-to-6 weeks when he landed on the injured list in late March, and Morel looks to be eyeing a return near the short end of that window with a shot at activation before the end of April. Once he's reinstated, Morel may face competition for starts at first base from Connor Norby, though Norby could also move across the diamond and unseat the struggling Graham Pauley as the Marlins' primary third baseman.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Goes deep again in loss
Alvarez went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.
Alvarez homered for the third time in as many games in the bottom of the eighth inning. He's in the midst of a six-game hit streak that includes seven-extra base hits, seven RBI and seven runs scored. The 28-year-old slugger leads the majors with 10 long balls to go along with a 1.261 OPS, 21 RBI, 19 runs scored and a steal across 104 plate appearances in the early going.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Doing light baseball work
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Sunday that Rookier (oblique) has resumed taking part in light baseball activities, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
The veteran slugger landed on the shelf April 10 due to an oblique strain, and he was shut down from baseball activities for a little more than a week. Rooker will travel with the Athletics on their road trip this week as he continues to ramp up his activity level.

Oswald Peraza 2B | LAA
Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Angels' Oswald Peraza: Back to bench in Soler's return
Peraza is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
Peraza went 7-for-18 (.389 average) with two home runs, one double, three walks, two stolen bases, four RBI and four runs while starting in each of the last five games at either second base or third base, but the Angels won't have room for him in the lineup Sunday while the team welcomes Jorge Soler (suspension) back from a four-game absence. Though he looks set to move back into more of a part-time role with the Angels back to full strength, Peraza has multiple paths to playing time.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Jo Adell RF | LAA
Angels' Jorge Soler: Batting cleanup in return
Soler will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Padres.
After completing his four-game suspension Saturday, Soler will slot back into his typical spot in the heart of the Angels lineup for the series finale. Jo Adell will move down to the No. 6 spot in the order after occupying the cleanup spot during three of the four games that Soler was out.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Taking seat Sunday
Cortes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Cortes and fellow left-handed hitters Jeff McNeil and Lawrence Butler will hit the bench for the series finale while southpaw Noah Schultz takes the hill for the White Sox. Since Brent Rooker (oblique) landed on the injured list April 10, Cortes has gained a foothold in the Athletics' regular lineup versus right-handed pitching while shuffling between the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter.

Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Luis Torrens C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Receiving day game off
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Luis Torrens will receive a turn behind the plate while Alvarez rests after going hitless in four at-bats Saturday night. Alvarez has been largely exempt from the Mets' recent struggles, going 7-for-28 with more walks (five) than strikeouts (four) during the team's 10-game losing streak.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Ben Rice 1B | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Idle for series finale
Stanton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Stanton will hit the bench for the second Sunday in a row, as the Yankees will give the veteran slugger some rest after he had started each of the last six days while going 3-for-25 (.120 average) with one home run, two RBI and an additional run over that stretch. Ben Rice will replace Stanton in the lineup as the Yankees' designated hitter.

Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT
Pirates' Marcell Ozuna: Homers again Saturday
Ozuna went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 8-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.
After batting an abysmal .051 through the Pirates' first 14 games, Ozuna has now hit safely in six straight appearances and has two homers over the last three contests. The 35-year-old might be finding his swing and has boosted his slash line to .185/.254/.292 with two homers, seven RBI, six runs scored and a 6:16 BB:K across 71 plate appearances.
