  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Continues throwing program

Ohtani (elbow) has been throwing every other day, and he made 50 throws from approximately 60 feet on flat ground Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Ohtani was cleared to begin a throwing program in late March, and he's been engaging in an every-other-day program as he begins to build his arm back up following last September's Tommy John surgery. The two-way star won't pitch this season, but he's expected to be a part of the Dodgers' rotation next year, and he reportedly could see some time in the outfield or at first base later in the current campaign if the organization is comfortable with his rehab progress. Ohtani will stick to being the team's everyday DH in the meantime, though he's off to a slow start with a .242/.297/.333 slash line and no homers through 37 plate appearances.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Nationals' Jesse Winker: Not in lineup

Winker (illness) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Pirates, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Winker had to be removed from Monday's 8-4 loss to Pittsburgh due to an illness. Even after Tuesday's off day, Winker won't rejoin the lineup, though it's unclear whether he's still not feeling well or if he's just getting an extra day to rest up. Eddie Rosario will play left field and Victor Robles will be in center while Winker is on the bench.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Reaches in first two games back

Garver went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

The noteworthy offseason acquisition laced one of four two-baggers on the night for the Mariners, with the double serving as his first hit since returning from a two-game absence due to back spasms. Garver had also reached safely in his first game back Monday, however, drawing a free pass and scoring a run over four plate appearances. The fact he was able to suit up in back-to-back games implies Garver is past his physical issues for the time being.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Getting breather Wednesday

Stanton is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona.

Stanton has been slow out of the gate this season, going 3-for-20 with a 1:11 BB:K, although one of those hits was a home run. The Yankees will give Aaron Judge a start at designated hitter Wednesday, with Trent Grisham getting the call in center field.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Could do some running Wednesday

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said that Jimenez (adductor) could try to do some running Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Jimenez is missing a third straight start Wednesday against Atlanta after he suffered a left adductor injury Sunday. Grifol noted that the team hasn't made a roster move with Jimenez yet because there's a "possibility" the designated hitter could be ready to play this weekend in Kansas City. While Jimenez seems to have shown improvement since suffering the injury Sunday, Grifol seems less optimistic now about the slugger avoiding the IL than he did earlier this week. Gavin Sheets has been filling in at DH with Jimenez sidelined.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Remains out of lineup

Jimenez (adductor) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus Atlanta.

Jimenez will miss a third straight start after tweaking his left adductor during Sunday's game against the Tigers. The White Sox maintain optimism that Jimenez will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list, and the rough weather conditions in Chicago also could have played a part in the club's decision to sit him again. Gavin Sheets will pick up another start at designated hitter Wednesday.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Giants' Jorge Soler: Swats first homer of 2024

Soler went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

After notching 36 long balls a season ago, it took Soler six games in a Giants uniform to get on the board in the homer column. He tagged Ryan Yarbrough for a solo shot in the sixth inning. While the power has been down so far, it's still super early, and Soler has been able to contribute elsewhere with five runs scored and a .370 OBP.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Blue Jays' Justin Turner: Reaches four times in win

Turner went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Astros.

Turner cranked a pair of doubles off Framber Valdez early in the contest. The 39-year-old veteran would later draw a two-out walk against Josh Hader in the ninth before coming around to score on Davis Schneider's eventual game-winning homer. Turner's gotten off to a nice start in Toronto, logging two three-hit games in his last three matchups. Overall, he's 7-for-20 with a homer and four RBI while serving as the Blue Jays' primary DH.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Goes yard twice in loss

Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

The veteran slugger took Garrett Crochet deep to left field in the seventh inning before launching a Michael Kopech fastball to nearly the same spot in the ninth, but it was all the offense Atlanta could muster. Ozuna has gone just 5-for-22 (.227) to begin the season with an 0:5 BB:K, but three of those hits have left the yard. The 33-year-old is looking to match the career-high 40 homers he clubbed in 2023.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Goes deep in romp

Morel went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Rockies.

Morel went deep in the third inning as the Cubs piled on in the easy win. The 24-year-old now has two long balls across five games to go along with a robust 1.171 OPS. Whether he's playing at third base or serving as the DH, Morel will be in the lineup most days due to his powerful bat, and fantasy managers should reap the rewards.
