Schwarber (back) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Schwarber missed three straight starts with back soreness, but he was able to pinch hit in Monday's contest and is back among the starting nine Tuesday. The 31-year-old is slashing .216/.319/.399 with nine home runs over 40 contests for the Phillies this season.

Ford went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Monday's 6-5 loss to Arizona.

Ford made a significant contribution for a second consecutive game. After a game-tying, eighth-inning home run in Sunday's loss to the Giants, Ford hit a game-tying single in the sixth then a go-ahead triple in the eighth Monday. Cincinnati's offense has struggled, so if Ford's bat gets going, he could land a semi-regular role until Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) returns.

Pederson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Reds.

Pederson has gone 11-for-35 (.314) with three homers and a 2:14 BB:K over 11 games in May. The slugger is up to five homers, nine RBI, 16 runs scored and a .298/.414/.543 slash line through 117 plate appearances in a strong-side platoon role at designated hitter. The 32-year-old has started the year well, but his strict platoon role likely means his 30-homer campaigns of yesteryear are unlikely to return.

Langford (hamstring) said Monday that he's now able to run at about 85-to-90 percent speed, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Langford also added that he began swinging a bat this past Friday. The next step for the rookie will be to incorporate more explosive running to test out his strained right hamstring. Langford is one week into a projected 3-to-4-week recovery timeline, so his return from the 10-day injured list isn't imminent.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Turner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles due to an illness, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Turner's absence from the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Twins was believed to be for maintenance purposes while he was in the midst of a 1-for-22 slump at the plate over his previous five starts, but he's apparently a victim of the bug that seems to be making its way around the Toronto clubhouse. He'll be on the bench for a second straight day Monday, while George Springer and Kevin Kiermaier are out of the lineup for the third and fourth time, respectively, in the four games due to illnesses of their own.

Turner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

After going 1-for-22 over his last five starts to bring his season average down to .250, Turner will end up getting two days off to take a mental reset. Daniel Vogelbach will make a second straight start as the Blue Jays' designated hitter while Turner rests.

Nimmo wound up pinch hitting a slugging a walk-off homer in the ninth inning however, so the assignment for Stewart was purely a short-term one. The 30-year-old has played well enough to keep a bench job even after J.D. Martinez joined the big-league roster, and Stewart sports a .206/.389/.426 slash line on the season with four homers and 16 RBI in 90 plate appearances.
