Tigers first baseman Victor Martinez is not in the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox. 

Martinez got the team's only hit in the first game Monday, but he'll take a seat for Game 2. Miguel Cabrera will get the start at first base, while Ian Kinsler will serve as the team's DH.

 It's not a huge surprise that Cabrera will skip one of the doubleheaders Monday, and it appears the first game is the one. Victor Martinez will start in his place at firs base, while J.D. Martinez will serve as the DH in the the contest. It seems highly likely that Cabrera will rejoin the lineup for Game 2 on Monday.

Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen went 1 for 1 with a career-tying four walks Sunday against the Dodgers.

The perennial MVP candidate has recorded 95 RBI (one fewer than his career high), giving him a good shot at reaching the 100-RBI mark. He also has stolen two bases in his last six starts and needs one more to reach double digits.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper kept doing his thing in Sunday's win against the Marlins, going 3 for 4 with a walk and a double.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner may miss a few games with a bruised knee, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

It appears as if Turner's knee problems have been bothering him for awhile which seems to suggest it's not severe. However, the 30-year-old will most likely take a few days to try and rehab the injury with the playoffs looming, meaning rookie Corey Seager could see additional starts at third base in the coming days.

It's unclear how severe the injury might be or when the injury might have occurred, however more information should be available as the game winds down. Turner was replaced at third base by Alex Guerrero in the seventh inning.

Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler went 1 for 2 Saturday with a walk, two runs scored and a solo shot, his eighth home run of the season.

It was a strong showing in his first start since coming off the DL. The Cubs outfield is crowded, but Soler made a good initial case for a regular spot in the starting lineup.

Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter went 2 for 5 Saturday with a two-run shot, his 24th home run of the season.

It's his third homer, sixth extra-base hit, and third multi-hit performance in his last four games. With the Cardinals having already locked up a playoff spot, Carpenter seems to be heating up at the right time.

Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes went 0 for 4 with a strikeout Saturday against the Yankees and is now in an 0 for 17 slide.

A slump should not be that surprising after seeing Cespedes rip the cover off the ball the first five weeks after the Mets acquired him. As a way to snap him out of the slide, the Mets may move Cespedes down in the order, but that is not set in stone.

Twins center fielder Aaron Hicks is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Angels, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The 25-year-old has been atop the order for each of the Twins' last 15 games (including Game 1), but will head to the bench following an 0-for-5 showing in Saturday's matinee. Byron Buxton will take over in center while Brian Dozier leads off against right-hander Garrett Richards.
