Belt (appendicitis) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

This move was simply procedural, as Belt was expected to be out for a little while after undergoing surgery to have his appendix removed Friday night. The slugging first baseman is eligible to return from the DL on June 12, and it sounds like he won't be forced to miss too much more time than that, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Pablo Sandoval stands to gain the most playing time at first base while Belt is sidelined. The club activated Alen Hanson (hamstring) in a corresponding move.

Belt exited Friday's game against the Phillies with a stomach illness that was eventually diagnosed as appendicitis after a trip to the hospital. The veteran first baseman will return home Saturday afternoon and is likely slated for a short trip on the disabled list. The 29-year-old would be eligible to return for the June 12 game against the Marlins once he lands on the DL in the next few days.

Ozuna went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Pirates on Friday.

Ozuna was back in the lineup after missing Thursday's contest with his finger issue. The outfielder was coming on at the plate as May came to a close, going an impressive 11-for-25 over the last seven games in which he registered at least one official at-bat. The fact he was able to kick off June with yet another multi-hit effort lends credence to the notion that he's returning to the level of play that he demonstrated in Miami, even as his power stroke remains mostly missing in action (three home runs over 215 plate appearances).

Belt posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed on Twitter Saturday morning, which would seem to indicate an appendectomy was necessary, although there has been no confirmation on that front yet. If he did have to have his appendix removed, Belt will likely land on the DL for a short stint. He reportedly complained of stomach pains Friday, but he thought he could play through the issue initially.

Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a walk in his return from the 10-day disabled list in Friday's win over the Blue Jays.

The veteran slugger missed the last 27 games with a hamstring injury. He also dealt with a biceps injury this season, so hopefully the extended time off allowed him to get his body right. Cabrera has been locked in when he's been able to play, as he's now carrying a solid .323/.411/.510 slash line across 96 at-bats. The Tigers will likely find him plenty of regular rest days moving forward in an effort to keep him healthy.

Blackmon went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Dodgers.

Blackmon hit a two-run triple -- his third three-bagger of the year -- off Dennis Santana in the second inning. It was Blackmon's fifth multi-hit effort in his last seven games, and he's now riding a nine-game hitting streak. The outfielder is slashing .279/.369/.515 with 21 extra-base hits and four stolen bases. Blackmon's 45 runs scored rank second in the NL behind Ozzie Albies.

Belt was replaced at first base by Pablo Sandoval after going 0-for-1. He'll be considered day-to-day moving forward, with the severity of the illness unknown.

Ohtani's next start is expected to come Wednesday against the Royals, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Ohtani will make his ninth appearance on the hill after his last start came Wednesday versus Detroit. Although it hasn't been made official just yet, expect Ohtani to get Tuesday off as he prepares to take the mound the following day. He's logged 45.1 innings so far this season and sits with a 3.18 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

Reyes is out of Friday's lineup against the Giants.

Through 44 big-league at-bats, four of Reyes' eight hits have gone over the fence, and he has struck out in 40.4 percent of his plate appearances. Hunter Renfroe will start in right field and hit sixth.

Cabrera was activated off the 10-day disabled list Friday and will bat third against the Blue Jays, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera was set to go through a full set of drills prior to Friday's game and will make his return, as expected. The veteran first baseman slashed .323/.407/.516 with three home runs prior to landing on the disabled list in early May.
