Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Swats homer in big-league debut

Lewis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Lewis played right field in his major-league debut and plated Seattle's first run with a 426-foot shot in the fifth inning. Indians' Franmil Reyes: Drives in four Tuesday

Reyes went 1-for-2 with four RBI and a walk in the Indians' 8-0 victory over the Angels on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old wound up driving in half of his team's runs for the game, cranking a three-run double in the third inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the seventh. He's had a prolific power-hitting campaign in 2019, cranking 34 homers, 17 doubles and driving in 74 runs despite a pedestrian .250 batting average across 497 plate appearances between the Padres and Indians.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: X-rays return negative

Turner (ankle) underwent X-rays on Tuesday which came back negative, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Turner was set to return from the sore ankle Tuesday but later scratched and underwent the X-rays. The 34-year-old won't immediately undergo an MRI, but he could receive one if there's no noticeable improvement. The team didn't make any declarations, but Turner seems like a good bet to be held out again Wednesday.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Hoping to return this weekend

The Giants hope Dickerson (oblique) will rejoin the lineup by this weekend, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Dickerson has apparently progressed nicely since receiving a cortisone injection Saturday and is on the cusp of his return. The 29-year-old hasn't seen game action since Sept. 3 due to the oblique issue.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

    Giants' Brandon Belt: Three-hit game

Belt went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI in Monday's 6-4 loss to Pittsburgh.

This was Belt's second three-hit performance over his last 10 starts. The first baseman has looked a little more like his former self over that span, slashing .263/.349/.526 with six extra-base hits. Belt will have to get hotter than this to restore faith in fantasy owners after spurning them with a .231/.341/.397 slash line overall this season.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Scratched from lineup

Turner (ankle) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles.

Turner initially appeared to be ready to go after missing one day with a sore ankle, but he evidently needs a bit more time. Chris Taylor will move in to third base in his absence, with Enrique Hernandez moving to right field and Gavin Lux entering the lineup at second base.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Ruled out for season

Buxton was placed on the 60-day injured list and will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports

After visiting team doctors in New York, it's been determined that Buxton will require season-ending surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. According to Derek Wetmore of SKOR North, the estimated recovery time is 5-to-6 months, so it's unclear at this time whether he'll be ready for the start of spring training. Ronald Torreyes will replace Buxton on the 40-man roster.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Returns to lineup

Turner (ankle) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
