  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sitting once again

Pederson will retreat to the bench for the second consecutive game Saturday as the Angels are starting another lefty in Andrew Heaney, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Not a major surprise that Pederson will be available off the bench again Saturday as the 28-year-old has made just one start against a left-handed pitcher this season. Chris Taylor will pick up the start in left field as a result.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Receives starting nod at third base

Miller will start at third base for the Cardinals in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Miller will get the nod at third base after sitting the first game of the doubleheader. It will be the 2020 debut for the 30-year-old utility man who could play an important role for the Cardinals as a flexible field player off the bench. Miller slashed .260/.329/.565 across 170 plate appearances in 2019.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Another multi-hit performance

Turner went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk in Friday's win over the Angels.

Turner has been one of the Dodgers' hottest and most consistent bats this season, and this 2-for-3 performance allowed him to push his hitting streak to nine games. The slugging third baseman is hitting .355 with a 1.041 OPS, two homers and eight RBI during that stretch.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Continues to torch foes

Winker went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored and a walk in Friday's 8-1 win over the Pirates.

There may not be hotter hitter in the league than Winker. The 26-year-old has seven multi-hit games over his last 10 games, and has hit five long balls over his last five contests. With so many options in the outfield, Winker probably knew going into the season that there weren't going to be many opportunities for him to get consistent playing time, but as long as he stays hot with his bat, the Buffalo native should have the DH spot locked down and will continue to see some time in the field on occasion.

  • Reds' Christian Colon: DFA'd by Cincy

Colon was designated for assignment by the Reds on Friday.

Colon appeared in 11 games and had a .341 OPS this season, so the Reds opted to remove him from the 40-man roster. The 31-year-old could return to the team's alternate training site if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sits against southpaw

Pederson will sit against lefty Patrick Sandoval and the Angels on Friday.

Pederson has started just once against a lefty this season. A.J. Pollock will start in left field in his absence.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: On bench versus lefty

Belt is not in the lineup Friday against the Athletics.

Belt went 1-for-15 over the past four games and will head to the bench with southpaw Jesus Luzardo starting for the A's. Wilmer Flores receives the start at first base for San Francisco.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Sitting versus lefty

Dickerson is not in the lineup Friday against the A's.

Dickerson seemed likely to start Friday with righty Frankie Montas set to take the mound, but Montas was scratched with a back issue, causing the A's to turn to lefty Jesus Luzardo. Darin Ruf will start in left field for the Giants.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Launches three-run homer

Turner went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Turner pulled the Dodgers away for good with a three-run shot off reliever Craig Stammen in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was Turner's second three-run shot in his last five days, and those have been the only two times the slugging third baseman has gone yard this season. Turner is beginning to see the ball better of late and is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak while slashing .320/.393/.640 in that span.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Homer, steal against Royals

Winker went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals.

With multiple hits in five of his last six games, Winker has raised average nearly 200 points to .333. He's 11-for-his-last-17 and has five extra-base hits in that span, including his first three homers of 2020. It's also worth noting that Winker has started against each of the last three lefties the Reds have faced, so it seems he's finally getting a chance to establish himself as an everyday player.
