    The Tigers announced Friday that Miguel Cabrera left Friday's game against the Indians with irritation in his abdominal area. He was treated by doctors and is considered day-to-day.

    Cabrera was 0 for 1 with a strikeout before exiting, giving him a .358/.449/.681 line with 43 home runs and 130 RBI in 483 at-bats.

    Cabrera was trying to stretch out a double in the fifth inning, and came up holding his leg. Cabrera was 2 for 3 before leaving the game.

    Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera mashed his 42nd home run in a win Sunday over the Mets.

    Cabrera finished 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. He added a walk to push his batting line to an absurd .360/.450/.685. All three lead the league, as Chris Davis's slugging percentage fell to .679 on Sunday.

  • Struggling Yoenis Cespedes too aggressive

    Athletics manager Bob Melvin kept outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and his struggling bat out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game in Baltimore, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.  

    "He's having a tough time right now," Melvin said Cespedes, who has gone just 4 for 26 (.154) over his last six games with 10 strikeouts. 

    Melvin believes Cespedes' struggle stem from a combination of how he's being pitched and his approach at the plate. He's been a little aggressive swinging at pitches out of the zone, according to the skipper.

    Miguel Cabrera shows no signs of injury

    Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera did not seem to be affected much by his lingering abdominal injury Wednesday, as he drove in three runs in a 7-1 win over the Twins.

    He was hitless in his first three at-bats before a bases-loaded double in the eighth inning that drove in three runs. He added a walk earlier in the game, and was replaced by a pinch runner after his double, with the game in hand.
