ESPN.com reports that Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera is scheduled to have surgery on his strained groin Tuesday in Philadelphia. Cabrera said he agreed to have the surgery, as it would be the best option for his career and for the team.
Cabrera also added, "I don't know anything about the operation, I don't want to know the details, I just hope it heals fast. I am trusting that the doctors can fix the problem. I have a lot left in me."
Struggling with the injury late in the season as well as during the playoffs, Cabrera hit .262 with two home runs in 42 postseason at-bats.
