Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Drives in five

Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBI and one run scored Saturday against the Orioles.

Cabrera turned back the clock with a vintage performance, taking advantage of a positive matchup against Andrew Cashner. He has started the season strong in every facet except power, with the problem being that he has just a 19 percent flyball rate. Most importantly, he appears to be healthy and if he continues to make strong contact -- he currently has a 48 percent hard-contact rate and nine doubles -- the home runs should come.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Believes he'll start Tuesday

Ohtani said his ankle feels better and he believes he'll be fine for his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Orioles, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Ohtani is day-to-day with what manager Mike Scioscia described as a "manageable" ankle injury. He was available as a pinch hitter Saturday against the Yankees, but Scioscia opted not to use him with the game well out of reach. Ohtani is expecting to take batting practice and throw a bullpen Sunday, after which there should be a clearer idea regarding his status for Tuesday.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Could pinch hit Saturday

Ohtani (ankle) remains a bit sore but could be available to pinch hit against the Yankees on Saturday, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Manager Mike Scioscia described the injury as "manageable" for Ohtani, which leaves him firmly in the day-to-day category. The 23-year-old's availability for Tuesday's scheduled start against the Orioles remains up in the air, but the ankle sprain still appears to be a relatively minor issue if there is any consideration to utilize him as a pinch hitter.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Not in Saturday's lineup

Ohtani (ankle) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Ohtani was removed from Friday's game after sustaining a mild left ankle sprain running out a ground ball in the fifth inning. The 23-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the Angels provide an additional update. The next scheduled start on the mound for the right-hander is slated for Tuesday against the Orioles, and his availability to hit until then remains up in the air.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Out indefinitely with hairline fracture in toe

Buxton has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his left big toe after fouling a ball off it last weekend and is without a timetable to return, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

According to Bollinger, the Twins will know more about Buxton's ETA over the next five days or so. Buxton recently got over the migraine issues that were plaguing him earlier this month, but the toe issue has turned out to be much worse than initial expectations. Fortunately it is not a major break that would require a 4-to-6 week absence, but he could still miss a good chunk of May. He should not be deployed in upcoming weekly lineups. Robbie Grossman should see more playing time over the coming weeks.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Out of Saturday's lineup

Miller is out of Saturday's lineup against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With the Rays facing southpaw David Price, they are loading up the lineup with right-handed hitters, resulting in Miller starting the game on the bench. C.J. Cron will start at first base and hit second in his place while Rob Refsnyder gets the start at DH. Miller should be back in the lineup Sunday against righty Rick Porcello.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Slugs two-run homer Friday

Canha went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer Friday in a win over the Astros.

Canha's homer came off starter Dallas Keuchel in the seventh inning and was the 29-year-old's fourth home run of the year. Canha had a nice eight-game hitting streak snapped Wednesday, and with Friday's hit his average now sits at .306 on the season. He has 11 RBI and 11 runs scored in 14 games, and with the absence of Boog Powell (knee), Canha has assumed regular playing time.

  • Indians' Michael Brantley: Goes 3-for-3 with home run

Brantley went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple and two RBI in Friday's win over the Mariners.

Brantley finished a double short of the cycle Friday. He hit a solo shot in the first, a triple in the fifth, a single in the seventh, and even added a sacrifice fly for good measure. The 30-year-old outfielder has seven multi-hit performances in his last 11 games, bringing his average up to .344 on the season to go along with a .900 OPS.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Suffers mild ankle sprain Friday

Ohtani sustained a mild left ankle sprain and was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees.

Luis Valbuena pinch hit for Ohtani in the bottom of the seventh inning, as he apparently sustained the injury on his broken bat groundout in the fifth inning. The fact the Angels have already classified it as a mild sprain and listed him as day-to-day is a relatively good sign, but his lineup availability for the rest of the series against the Yankees is now in question, along with his next start on the mound, currently slated for Tuesday against the Orioles.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Batting fifth Friday

Ohtani will serve as the Angels' designated hitter and bat fifth against the Yankees on Friday.

Ohtani returns to the Angels lineup after receiving a few days of rest due to Tuesday's start on the mound and Thursday's off day. The 23-year-old should be available to hit in all three games of the weekend series against the Yankees, as he is next slated to start against the Orioles next Tuesday.
