Cabrera was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left biceps strain, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Josh Lester will be called up in a corresponding move. Per Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic, the Tigers want to get Cabrera back before the end of the season. If this doesn't cost him much more than the minimum, Cabrera could make it back for roughly the final two weeks of the campaign. Cabrera is batting .256/.305/.317 this season at the age of 39.

Alvarez (hand) hit in the cage Saturday and could return Sunday against the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Alvarez hasn't played in a week due to hand soreness. He was initially listed in Friday's lineup but got scratched, and he wasn't deemed ready to return Saturday, either. He reportedly felt good in the cage, however, which bodes well for a Sunday return.

Choi isn't starting Saturday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Although right-hander Clarke Schmidt is starting for the Yankees on Saturday, Choi will be on the bench for the fifth time in the last six games. Harold Ramirez is taking over at first base and batting cleanup.

Cabrera will be out of the lineup a day after he departed Friday's matchup due to discomfort in his biceps. Whether he's available off the bench remains to be seen, but Jeimer Candelario will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth.

Alvarez missed three consecutive games while battling left-hand soreness, but he will make his return in Friday's series opener in Los Angeles. The Astros' young star has been stuck in a cold spell lately with a .638 OPS since Aug. 1.

Jimenez (leg) is not listed in the lineup for Friday's game against Minnesota, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Jimenez left Thursday's victory over Kansas City early with right leg soreness, and it seems the issue is enough to keep him on the bench Friday. His right leg has been very problematic for him recently, though he has still been able to appear in all but one game since Aug. 1.
