  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Walkoff grand slam Tuesday

Stanton went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's 9-8 victory over the Pirates.

Stanton capped off a thrilling ninth-inning comeback with a walkoff grand slam. Aaron Judge led off the inning with a solo shot to push the game to 8-5, and the next three batters loaded the bases for Stanton, who crushed a home run 410 feet to left field to win the game. The home run, Stanton's 27th on the season, came after he was hitless in his previous 16 at-bats with nine strikeouts.

  • Mike Ford DH | MIN

Angels' Mike Ford: Racks up three hits

Ford went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Ford has endured a difficult September, hitting just .208 (40-for-48) even after Tuesday's three-hit game. This was his third multi-hit effort of the month. The 30-year-old first baseman is up to a .214/.318/.321 slash line with three home runs, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and three doubles through 45 contests, 23 of which have come with the Angels. Despite the poor hitting of late, he's still receiving more playing time than Matt Thaiss at first base.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Sitting against southpaw

Winker is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Oakland.

Winker is 5-for-34 through 11 games in September and will take a seat Tuesday with lefty JP Sears on the mound for the A's. Sam Haggerty will start in left field and bat ninth.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Returns to bench Tuesday

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Cabrera will get a breather after he returned from a stint on the 15-day injured list Monday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in the Tigers' 11-0 win in the series opener. Though he's ostensibly healthy again and had a solid game in his return to action, the 39-year-old Cabrera is expected to handle a part-time role for the rebuilding Tigers over the final two weeks of the season.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Held out Tuesday

Alvarez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Alvarez is red-hot right now, hitting six homers and posting a sizzling 1.654 OPS over his last 10 games, but he will get a break a day after the Astros clinched the AL West. Aledmys Diaz will start in left field in Alvarez's place.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Officially done for season

The Rangers transferred Miller (hip) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction officially ends Miller's season, as the 32-year-old was initially placed on the 10-day IL on Sept. 9 with the right hip strain. Miller held down a large-side platoon role for a decent chunk of the 2022 campaign, but he contributed a meager .212/.270/.320 slash line in 241 plate appearances. Given his advancing age, poor offensive production this season and lack of defensive value, Miller will likely have to settle for a minor-league deal when he becomes a free agent this winter.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Benched against lefty again

Winker is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Winker will take a seat for the second game in a row with the Angels bringing another lefty (Jose Suarez) to the bump for the series finale. Before he was on the bench for Sunday's 5-1 loss, Winker started in each of the preceding five games and went 3-for-19 with five strikeouts.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Comes off IL

The Tigers reinstated Cabrera (biceps) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

The Tigers haven't revealed whether Cabrera will be included in the lineup for Monday's game in Baltimore, but the 39-year-old will likely be in store for only a part-time role over the final two and a half weeks of the season in any case. With Detroit opening up more playing time of late for rookies Spencer Torkelson and Ryan Kreidler, Cabrera could be part of a messy three-man timeshare at designated hitter with Jeimer Candelario, Kerry Carpenter and Eric Haase.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Yankees' Matt Carpenter: Still not cleared for activities

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Carpenter (foot) has yet to be cleared for baseball activities, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports. "I am not sure," Boone said, when asked if Carpenter has a chance to return this season. "I think it kind of depends on when they X-ray next and then what that allows him to do from a ramp-up standpoint."

Carpenter didn't require surgery to address the fractured left foot he sustained Aug. 8, and while he's shown improvement in the subsequent five weeks, he hasn't made enough progress to the point where he can begin on-field workouts. With just two and a half weeks left in the regular season, Carpenter seems unlikely to be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by the first week of October, but he could have a chance at coming back for the postseason if the Yankees are able to make a deep run.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Stays hot in series finale

Alvarez went 2-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI, a run and a strikeout during Sunday's 11-2 win over Oakland.

Alvarez got a day off during Wednesday's series finale in Detroit, but he was dominant during the Astros' four-game set against Oakland by racking up seven extra-base hits over 17 at-bats. The 25-year-old has recorded extra-base hits in eight of the nine matchups during his current hitting streak, hitting .485 with six home runs, six doubles, 12 runs, 11 RBI, six walks and three strikeouts over that stretch.
