Justin Turner 1B | CHC
Mariners' Justin Turner: Traded to Seattle
The Mariners acquired Turner from the Blue Jays on Monday in exchange for outfielder RJ Schreck, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Turner was mysteriously pulled from the first game of Monday's doubleheader in Baltimore after just one plate appearance, and the trade with the Mariners ending up being the reasoning behind his early exit. The 39-year-old will give Seattle an everyday option at first base and/or designated hitter, and while he's struggled to a .257/.351/.373 slash line for the season as a member of the Blue Jays, he should still help upgrade a slumping lineup. Seattle will absorb the $4.3 million remaining on Turner's $13 million salary for 2024, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com.

Bligh Madris DH | DET
Tigers' Bligh Madris: Drawing fifth straight start
Madris will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Guardians.
He'll be included in the lineup for a fifth straight contest after going 6-for-14 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI over the prior four games. The Tigers may not have an everyday role available for Madris once the likes of Parker Meadows (hamstring) and Riley Greene (hamstring) return from the 10-day injured list, though Detroit could find ways to get Madris' bat in the lineup so long as he's running hot at the dish.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Back from injured list
The Yankees activated Stanton (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Stanton will skip a rehab assignment and go right back onto the active roster after missing the past month with a strained left hamstring. While Stanton should soak up most of the starts at designated hitter, the Yankees could also use Aaron Judge at that spot on some days while the newly acquired Jazz Chisholm plays the outfield.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Not in Sunday's lineup
Yoshida is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Yoshida has an .875 OPS in eight games since the All-Star break but will head to the bench Sunday as lefty Carlos Rodon takes the mound for New York. Danny Jansen will make his Red Sox debut at designated hitter in the series finale.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Set to be activated Monday
Stanton (hamstring) remains on track to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Stanton has missed a month of action while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but he appears to be set to make his return to the major-league roster Monday in Philadelphia. The 34-year-old will skip a rehab assignment, and he'll attempt to pick up where he left off with the Yankees, having produced a 10-game hitting streak prior to going down with the injury.

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Sitting again Sunday
Larnach is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Justyn-Henry Malloy 3B | DET
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Not starting Sunday
Malloy is absent from the Tigers' starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Twins, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TB
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Absent from lineup Saturday
Jimenez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.
Jimenez will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's 10-0 loss to the Mariners. Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter and bat second.

Trevor Larnach LF | MIN
Twins' Trevor Larnach: Sitting against southpaw
Larnach is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Detroit, per MLB.com.
Larnach went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 win over the Tigers. With Detroit sending left-hander Tarik Skubal to the mound Saturday, the lefty-hitting Larnach will cede left field to Austin Martin.

Mitch Garver C | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: On base five times in rout
Garver went 3-for-3 with two walks, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's 10-0 win over the White Sox.
Making his first start at catcher since July 20, Garver had a perfect day at the plate and did pretty well behind it too, guiding George Kirby and the Seattle bullpen to a combined shutout. Garver had been stuck in a 2-for-29 slump in his last eight games heading into Friday, but he remains the only backup option to Cal Raleigh and is part of the mix at designated hitter despite a career-low .649 OPS on the season. Once Randy Arozarena joins the team and Julio Rodriguez (ankle) is back in action, however, there will be greater competition for those DH at-bats.
