The Twins acquired Tait and Mick Abel from the Phillies on Wednesday in exchange for Jhoan Duran, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Tait, one of the top prospects in the Phillies' system, started the season with Single-A Clearwater before being promoted to High-A Jersey Shore. He's appeared in just seven games in High-A but has done well at the plate in a short time, going 8-for-27 (.296) with three doubles and six RBI. Tait turns 19 on Aug. 27, and the lefty-hitting catcher will now have the opportunity to work his way up through the Twins' farm system.

Alvarez was removed from Wednesday's game against the Padres after getting hit in the head by a foul ball in the fifth inning, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez managed to finish the inning after the foul tip deflected off his catcher's helmet, but he didn't come back out on defense for the start of the sixth. The Mets will likely evaluate him for a concussion and may offer an update on his status shortly. Meanwhile, Luis Torrens stands to benefit from increased playing time behind the plate.

The Yankees optioned Escarra to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

The move will make room on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Austin Slater, whom the Yankees acquired from the White Sox. Escarra has appeared in 39 games for the Yankees this season and has slashed .205/.299/.337 with one steal, two home runs and 10 RBI across 97 plate appearances. With Escarra down in Triple-A, Ben Rice will serve as the top backup to No. 1 catcher Austin Wells.

Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Pages will get a breather for the series finale while Yohel Pozo receives a turn at catcher Wednesday. Though the Cardinals appear to have ruled out Ivan Herrera from playing behind the plate anytime soon, Pages' grasp on the No. 1 catcher role appears to be slipping. He's getting on base at a .147 clip and hasn't produced an extra-base hit in 10 games since the All-Star break, with his offensive struggles opening the door for Pozo to pick up more playing time.

Hicks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Hicks will head to the bench for the series finale in St. Louis after he went hitless with five strikeouts in 12 at-bats while starting in each of the previous three contests. With Hicks sitting out Wednesday, Agustin Ramirez will start at catcher and Kyle Stowers will serve as Miami's designated hitter.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 10-3 loss to the Cubs.

Contreras snapped a power drought with his first home run since June 14 in the first inning, then added another in the fourth. It marked the fifth multi-homer game of the catcher's career and put an exclamation point on a strong three-game set against the Cubs that featured three extra-base hits, three RBI and six runs scored. On the season, he's slashing .250/.348/.363 with eight long balls, 45 RBI, 56 runs scored and five steals across 443 plate appearances.

Rogers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Rogers started the Wednesday matinee, giving Dillon Dingler a day off, and the former delivered his third home run of the season. While it's been a struggle for Rogers overall in 2025, he's at least showing some signs of life lately with at least one hit in his last three starts and two homers over that span. The catcher did slug 21 home runs as recently as 2023, so the power potential is there, but Rogers should remain firmly behind Dingler on Detroit's depth chart.

Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Acquired from the Marlins earlier this week, Fortes made his Rays debut in Tuesday's 12-2 win, starting behind the dish while going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Though he'll have a clearer path to playing time in Tampa Bay after Agustin Ramirez had overtaken him as the top backstop in Miami prior to the trade, Fortes may still find himself in a timeshare at catcher with Matt Thaiss, who gets the start Wednesday.

Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

The left-handed-hitting Naylor started Sunday in the Guardians' previous matchup with a lefty starter (the Royals' Noah Cameron), but he'll retreat to the bench for the series finale with the Rockies while southpaw Kyle Freeland takes the hill for Colorado. Austin Hedges will handle catching duties for Cleveland.

Ramirez (undisclosed) started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Single-A Columbia's 9-6 win over Fredericksburg on Tuesday after being reinstated from the 7-day injured list.

Though he handled a non-defensive role in his first game with Columbia since May 31, Ramirez made five starts at catcher during his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, so he appears to have made a full recovery from the injury that kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. For the season, Ramirez is slashing .252/.367/.466 with nine home runs and five stolen bases in 45 games for Columbia.
