  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Knocks three hits in win

Hicks went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Athletics. Hicks has come back hot after a minimum stay on the injured list due to a back issue. He's gone 9-for-23 (.391) since his return while making starts at catcher (one), first base (two) and designated hitter (two) in that span. He's had a consistent enough bat to be a near-everyday presence in the lineup for the Marlins. Hicks is hitting .288 with an .830 OPS, 13 home runs, 54 RBI, 48 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple and a stolen base over 78 contests. He continues to primarily bat out of the leadoff spot versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Two more hits in Wednesday's loss

Hicks went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies. Making his second straight start at first base since coming off the IL, Hicks has banged out two hits and scored a run in each game since recovering from a lower-back strain. The 27-year-old's breakout campaign doesn't appear to be slowing down -- over 19 contests since the beginning of June, Hicks has produced a .324/.405/.471 slash line with five extra-base hits, including two homers, eight RBI and 15 runs.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Awaiting MRI results on back

Hicks is awaiting MRI results on his injured lower back, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain, and the Marlins will have a better idea as to proceed with his rehab after the MRI results are in. Manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Hicks feels improved but is "still stiff." The club could have more on Hicks' status later Monday.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Scratched with back tightness

Hicks was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants due to lower-back tightness, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Hicks has tallied a base hit in each of the Marlins' last 10 games, but he'll be forced to sit out Saturday's contest to give his back a chance to heal. Owen Caissie will slide into the DH spot while Hicks sits, opening up right field for Esteury Ruiz.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Idle against southpaw

Hicks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. Left-hander Andrew Alvarez is starting for the Nationals on Wednesday, so the Marlins will go with a right-handed-heavy lineup for the series finale. Hicks will hit the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Owen Caissie and Jakob Marsee.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Taking seat Tuesday

Hicks is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta. The 26-year-old started against three of the previous four lefties the Marlins have faced but finds himself on the bench Tuesday versus Atlanta southpaw Martin Perez. Hicks has an .850 OPS for the season but is batting .194/.293/.222 across his past 10 games. Christopher Morel is starting at first base and batting cleanup Tuesday for Miami.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Goes deep Thursday

Hicks went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-3 victory against the Orioles on Thursday. Hicks accounted for the game's first two runs with a first-inning long ball. That was his fifth home run over his past 12 contests, a span in which he's also batting .314 (11-for-35) with 13 RBI. Hicks started at catcher Thursday, but his previous three starts came at either first base or DH. The Marlins seem committed to getting his bat in the lineup on a near-everyday basis given that he's been easily the team's most productive hitter. Hicks is slashing .319/.372/.584 with nine homers, 34 RBI (first in the majors), 20 runs, one stolen base and a 10:12 BB:K through 35 contests.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Slugs eighth homer

Hicks went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Orioles. Getting the start at first base before shifting behind the plate late in the game after rookie catcher Joe Mack was lifted for a pinch runner, Hicks continued his breakout campaign. His seventh-inning solo shot off Anthony Nunez was his eighth long ball of the season in just 33 contests, while the four hits tied his career high. Hicks will likely see most of his playing time at first base or DH while the Marlins take a long look at Mack, but his bat should be in the lineup nearly every day given his .321/.372/.575 slash line and 32 RBI, one back of MLB leader Matt Olson.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Idle against lefty

Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. With lefty Jesus Luzardo on the bump for the Phillies, the left-handed hitter will hit the bench. Agustin Ramirez draws the start at catcher for Miami, while Christopher Morel serves as the team's designated hitter in Hicks' absence.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Goes yard in return to lineup

Hicks went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers. The 26-year-old sat out Tuesday's game due to an illness, but Hicks looked pretty healthy in his return to action when he led off the second inning by launching a Tyler Glasnow offering down the right-field line for his seventh homer of the year. It was Hicks' third long ball in his last four starts, and on the season he continues to boast an impressive .315/.365/.576 slash line over 104 plate appearances with one steal, 18 runs and 28 RBI -- tied with Matt Olson for second in the National League behind Sal Stewart's 29.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Cleared to start Wednesday

Hicks (illness) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Hicks ended up being scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 2-1 win after falling ill, but he made enough progress overnight to rejoin the starting nine for the series finale. The second-year player has been one of the more productive bats in the Miami lineup this season, producing a 143 wRC+ while batting .311 with six home runs, one stolen base, 27 RBI and 17 runs in 28 games.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Clubs three-run homer in loss

Hicks went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. Hicks powered the Marlins' offense with a three-run homer off Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the fifth inning, though the Dodgers rallied to walk it off in the ninth inning. Hicks has seen time at catcher, first base and designated hitter this season and produced regardless of role, slashing .311/.350/.544 with six homers, three doubles, 27 RBI and 17 runs across 28 games. His 27 RBI ranks second in MLB, trailing only Sal Stewart (29).

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Swats fourth homer

Hicks went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's loss to Atlanta. The 26-year-old backstop had gone 12 straight games without leaving the yard after a power surge in the first week of the season, but Hicks got hold of an Osvaldo Bido slider in the eighth inning Wednesday and ripped it down the right-field line for his fourth homer of the year. Hicks has been playing nearly every day between catcher (10 games), first base (six games) and DH (three games), slashing .309/.355/.545 with a stunning 18 RBI, two behind MLB leader Andy Pages.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Tallies three RBI in win

Hicks went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 10-4 win over Atlanta. Hicks was a run-producing force, driving in three runs as part of a three-hit performance. After posting just a .412 OPS over his previous 10 appearances, the catcher looked more like his early-season self Monday, when he recorded a 1.660 OPS through Miami's first five contests. Through 16 games, the 26-year-old is hitting .319/.370/.532 with three homers, a double, 10 runs and 16 RBI.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Idle against southpaw

Hicks is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. Hicks has gotten off to a sizzling start to the season with a 1.164 OPS over 29 plate appearances, but the Marlins will shield the left-handed batter from southpaw Brandon Williamson in Monday's series opener. At least until the Marlins return the likes of Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) from the injured list, Hicks should have a clear path to regular at-bats versus right-handed pitching while making starts at catcher, first base or designated hitter.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Goes yard Wednesday

Hicks went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox. Hicks is enjoying an excellent start to the season, hitting safely in four of his first five games while already leaving the yard on three occasions. With three homers, 12 RBI and eight runs scored in 19 plate appearances through five games, Hicks should cool down sooner rather than later. However, it wouldn't be a stretch to call him one of the hottest bats in the National League over the first week of the regular season.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Smashes second homer

Hicks went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 9-4 loss to the White Sox. Hicks cracked his second homer of the campaign Monday. Most of the 26-year-old backstop's action in 2026 is likely to come at either catcher, designated hitter or first base, as Agustin Ramirez is locked in as Miami's top catcher, and Hicks is making an early case for the Marlins to find ways to get his bat into the lineup.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Role set to begin season

Hicks went 0-for-3 in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros. While it wasn't a noteworthy performance, Hicks saw his only real competition for a spot on the 26-man roster eliminated when top catching prospect Joe Mack was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. Hicks is expected to split his time between catcher, first base and DH once again in 2026 while primarily facing right-handed pitching, a split in which he slashed .256/.349/.367 last year with six homers in 324 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Taking seat Wednesday

Hicks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Hicks will head to the bench for the series finale in St. Louis after he went hitless with five strikeouts in 12 at-bats while starting in each of the previous three contests. With Hicks sitting out Wednesday, Agustin Ramirez will start at catcher and Kyle Stowers will serve as Miami's designated hitter.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Taking seat Sunday

Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers. Hicks will sit for the second time in the past three games, even though the Marlins have faced a right-handed starter in all three contests. The 26-year-old has a .708 OPS with a 5:6 BB:K in his past 10 games and should continue to see at least semi-regular starts, though his grip on a strong-side platoon role appears to be slipping.
