Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Maldonado will get a breather in the series finale after he caught both of the previous two days while going hitless across six at-bats. Korey Lee gets the nod behind the dish Sunday.

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rortvedt will retreat to the bench after he started behind the plate in each of the Rays' last three games while going 2-for-9 with a walk. Though the 26-year-old may still be in a timeshare at catcher with Rene Pinto, the playing time has been tilting in Rortvedt's favor of late.

Pinto will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Pinto is back in the starting nine for the series finale, but he had been excluded from the lineup in each of the previous three contests while Ben Rortvedt handled catching duties for the Rays. At this stage, Pinto appears to have moved into a timeshare at catcher, if he's not already being viewed as the No. 2 option behind Rortvedt.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Bailey had caught both of the Giants' previous two contests, so he's likely just getting a maintenance day for the series finale. Tom Murphy will step in behind the dish in Bailey's stead.

Bethancourt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Bethancourt will head to the bench for the series finale as he remains part of a wholly unproductive timeshare behind the plate with Nick Fortes, who gets the starting nod Sunday. Neither backstop has cemented himself as the clear top option in Miami, as Bethancourt has reached base in just one of his first 23 plate appearances of the season, while Fortes has mustered a .266 OPS in 24 plate appearances.

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

D'Arnaud will receive a routine breather for the series finale after he started behind the plate Friday and Saturday while going 2-for-7 with a double. Chadwick Tromp will handle catching duties Sunday.

Naylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Naylor is out of the lineup for the second straight contest, though the first of those games was the second half of a doubleheader Saturday. His absence in the series finale comes with southpaw Nestor Cortes on the hill for New York, with Cleveland playing matchups by holding out the lefty-hitting Naylor in favor of righty-hitting catcher Austin Hedges.

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Wells is getting a breather after he was behind the plate for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, finishing 0-for-3 with an RBI in the Yankees' 8-2 win. Jose Trevino will draw the start at catcher in the series finale, forming a battery with left-hander Nestor Cortes.

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Davis will get a breather for the series finale in Philadelphia after catching each of the Bucs' last four contests while going 4-for-13 with one double, three walks, two runs and two RBI. Joey Bart will step in to handle catching duties for Pittsburgh.

McCann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

McCann had made consecutive starts behind the plate to begin the series with Milwaukee, but he'll head back to the bench for Sunday's finale while Adley Rutschman draws the start at catcher. Rutschman received the day off Friday and served as a designated hitter Saturday, but he's still expected to see the overwhelming majority of the starts at catcher in 2024.
