Narvaez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to Toronto.

Narvaez has now logged at least one hit in five of his last six outings. Over his last nine games, the backstop is batting a healthy .265 (9-for-34) with three homers, one double, four RBI and seven runs scored. Although Connor Wong (wrist) is nearing a return from the injured list, Narvaez's performance in his stead may have helped him create a timeshare behind the dish for the Red Sox once the former is healthy.

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.

The Guardians generated all four of their runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by Naylor's three-run home run off Brock Stewart. Naylor is now up to four home runs on the season (two of which have come over his last two games), and he has an .842 OPS with one stolen base, seven runs scored and nine RBI over his last 15 games.

Quero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Quero will get a breather after he started in seven of Chicago's last eight games, catching in five of them and serving as a designated hitter in the other two. Matt Thaiss will get a turn behind the plate Wednesday.

Wong (finger) isn't catching on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday due to hand soreness, but manager Alex Cora is still hoping for an activation from the injured list this weekend, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old is experiencing some soreness after catching Tuesday's game, and he's expected to make another start for Worcester before potentially rejoining the Red Sox. Wong has gone 3-for-7 with a walk, a double and two RBI through two games of the rehab assignment, but his availability behind the plate is the real concern as he makes his return from a fractured left pinkie finger. Carlos Narvaez has played well in Wong's absence, and it appears Cora may plan to split playing time behind the plate rather than using Wong as a clear No. 1 option once both players are available, per Ian Browne of MLB.com.

Trevino is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.

Trevino will get a breather for the nightcap after he went 1-for-3 while catching all nine innings of the Reds' 6-0 loss in Game 1. Austin Wynns will receive the nod behind the dish for Game 2.

Higashioka reported tightness in his hamstring and is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers are going to hold off on placing Higashioka on the injured list for now, but he may need to be deactivated if his condition doesn't improve after a few days of rest. Tucker Barnhart was added to the active roster from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday to give Texas another option behind the plate while Higashioka recovers.

The Rangers selected Barnhart's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Barnhart will join the major-league roster for the first time this season to provide Texas with some depth behind the plate while Kyle Higashioka nurses a hamstring injury. Barnhart owns just a .541 OPS in the majors since 2022 but has shown more promise in the minors this year with a .246/.354/.391 slash line through 89 plate appearances.

Diaz will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Diaz and Martin Maldonado have now made 15 starts apiece behind the plate through the Padres' first 30 games of the season, but the former offers more offensive upside at this stage of his career and could eventually recapture the lion's share of the playing time at catcher. The Padres will hand Diaz his second straight start after he brought his season average up to .192 with a 2-for-4 performance in Tuesday's 7-4 win.

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Maldonado will hit the bench for the second day in a row while Elias Diaz picks up another start behind the dish. The playing time at catcher had been tilting in Maldonado's favor in recent weeks, but Diaz brings more offensive upside to the table and showed signs of breaking out of his season-long funk at the plate Tuesday, when he went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Padres' 7-4 win. Maldonado could see his opportunities take a hit if Diaz is able to build on Tuesday's performance.

Murphy is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Colorado.

After catching each of the first two games of the series, Murphy will begin Wednesday's finale on the bench. Drake Baldwin is behind the dish and batting seventh as Atlanta goes for the sweep.
