McCann is on the bench for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

McCann went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs Friday night, raising his average to .350 in 20 at-bats since the start of July. Tomas Nido is catching the afternoon contest Saturday, with McCann likely gearing up to play Game 2.

Rogers is not starting Saturday's game against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 26-year-old went 0-for-2 with a walk Friday, dropping his average to .258 in his last nine games. Rogers has hit two homers and driven in four runs in that span. Eric Haase is starting behind the dish and batting cleanup Saturday.

McGuire is not starting Saturday's game against the Rays.

McGuire's bat has cooled off again, as he's gone 1-for-17 with no walks since the start of July. His offensive drop-off has coincided with Danny Jansen's return from the injured list July 3. McGuire was recently named the starting catcher over the light-hitting Jansen, but the latter is starting Saturday and may reclaim the role if he enjoys some success at the plate.

The veteran catcher chipped in his share of the production in a 13-4 rout. McCann is swinging a hot bat with the All-Star break looming, and over his last 10 games he's batting .346 (9-for-26) to push his slash line on the year to .251/.319/.379 with seven homers and 29 RBI through 73 contests.

Barrera went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Giants.

After replacing Yan Gomes (oblique) behind the plate for the bottom of the second inning, Barrera proceeded to be one of the few bright spots for the Nats in a 5-3 loss. With Alex Avila (calf) still on the IL, Barrera could find himself starting for Washington over the final two games before the All-Star break and potentially seeing a significant role after the break as well.

Casali went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in a 5-3 victory over Washington on Friday.

The Giants decided to put Buster Posey (thumb) on the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, giving Casali another chance to start. He came through with a big performance, finishing with his third three-hit game of the season. Casali should function as San Francisco's primary starter until Posey returns, especially since he is on a roll at the plate. Over his past five games, Casali has gone 7-for-14 with four doubles, two walks and two RBI.

Gomes was removed from Friday's game in San Francisco after he felt a pinch in his left oblique, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

The catcher felt something when throwing a warmup pitch back to Paolo Espino before the second inning. Gomes, who will be re-evaluated Saturday, should be considered day-to-day until the team provides an update on his condition.

Gomes was removed in the second inning of Friday's game against the Giants for undisclosed reasons, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Tres Barrera geared up and entered the game to catch after Gomes received one warm-up pitch in the second inning. An explanation of Gomes' departure figures to come out after the game, if not sooner.

Bart (foot) joined the Giants' taxi squad Friday and could be activated over the weekend, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With Curt Casali and Chadwick Tromp both on the 26-man roster, Bart isn't immediately needed even after Buster Posey landed on the injured list. Nonetheless, his move to the taxi squad indicates Bart has gotten past the foot injury he suffered last week, and he could join the roster at some point during the weekend series against Washington.

Caratini (hand) is not in the lineup Friday against the Rockies, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Despite receiving negative X-ray results for his right hand, which was hit with a foul ball Thursday, Caratini doesn't crack the lineup for Friday's series opener. Webster Rivas will start behind the dish and likely be the catcher for however long Caratini needs to recover.
