The White Sox recalled Perez from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

He'll join the White Sox as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez, who was placed on the 10-day injured list after undergoing an appendectomy Saturday. Though Jimenez's absence opens up a spot in the everyday lineup, Perez's call-up looks to be mainly the result of the White Sox desiring another healthy body at catcher while Yasmani Grandal manages a minor back issue, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. Grandal is expected to replace Jimenez as Chicago's primary DH in the short term, while Perez will likely serve as an extra option at catcher behind Seby Zavala.

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

The young backstop will be getting some maintenance for Sunday's matinee after he started at catcher in five of the past six games while going 2-for-16 at the dish. Carlos Perez will spell Langeliers behind the plate in the series finale.

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Barnhart has a .464 OPS in 45 plate appearances and will take a seat Sunday for the third time in the past four games. Top catcher Yan Gomes (concussion) is on the injured list, and rookie Miguel Amaya is 1-for-5 with two RBI since his promotion Tuesday.

Hedges is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

He'll get a breather for the matinee game after he started at catcher in the first two games of the series with Toronto. Jason Delay will check in behind the dish Sunday, forming a battery with starting pitcher Roansy Contreras.

Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

With a quick turnaround for Sunday's series finale, Kirk will get a breather after he caught all nine innings while going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run in Saturday's 8-2 win. Danny Jansen will slot in behind the plate while shortstop Bo Bichette gets a day out of the field and serves as Toronto's designated hitter.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Diaz was behind the dish for the first two games of the Rockies' series in New York, and Sunday's game begins at 1:40 p.m. ET, so he'll merely be getting a breather for the finale. Austin Wynns will replace him as Colorado's starting catcher.

Murphy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Due to the quick turnaround for the series finale -- which begins at 11:35 a.m. ET -- both Atlanta and Baltimore are holding out their respective star backstops in Sean Murphy and Adley Rutschman for rest purposes. Chadwick Tromp will get a rare turn behind the plate while Murphy sits for the first time since April 23.

Heim went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Angels.

Heim continues to perform as one of the best-hitting catchers in MLB. He ranks second at the position in RBI (26), average (.305) and slugging (.568), and fourth in OBP (.374). The 27-year-old backstop is expected to serve as the team's primary catcher until Mitch Garver (knee) becomes available -- Texas manager Bruce Bochy recently targeted a May 23 return -- and likely remain in the role going forward, given Garver's injury history and the team's desire to sustain his availability for the rest of the season by using him as a DH at times.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

Rutschman had started each of the previous seven games at either catcher or designated hitter, but he'll get a breather for the series finale while James McCann and Anthony Santander draw the starts at those respective lineup spots. The move to the bench comes after Rutschman went 0-for-11 over his last three starts, dropping his season average to .285. Rutschman walked four times and struck out just twice during that span, so he still appears to be seeing the ball well at the plate.

Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Ruiz put Washington on the scoreboard with a two-run double in the fourth inning, then kicked off an eventful ninth with a 431-foot solo shot to right field. The three RBI were a season high for the backstop, who had not knocked in any runs over his previous eight contests coming into Saturday. Ruiz notched his eighth multi-hit game of the campaign and raised his slash line to .248/.311/.376 through 119 plate appearances.
