Nationals' Yan Gomes: Back from COVID list
Gomes was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Friday.
The 33-year-old missed the first three games of the season due to contract tracing but will rejoin the team Friday after clearing the COVID-19 protocols. According to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com, Gomes won't start in his first game back with Jonathan Lucroy working behind the plate instead.

Diaz is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.
The 30-year-old will take a seat for the second straight contest with Dom Nunez receiving another start behind the plate for Colorado. Diaz started Opening Day for the Rockies, but he's started only two games since while Nunez receives his fifth start of the season Friday.

Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Clubs first homer
Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Mets.
He took Jacob Barnes deep in the fifth inning to blow the game open. It was Realmuto's first homer of the year, and the star catcher has had a productive start to the campaign by slashing .333/.391/.571 through six games with six RBI.

Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Sits for second game of twin bill
D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Nationals.
D'Arnaud was behind the plate for all seven innings of Atlanta's 7-6 win in the front end of the twin bill, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Alex Jackson will draw the start at catcher in the second game while d'Arnaud gets a breather.

Padres' Victor Caratini: Gets rest in series finale
Caratini is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Caratini is sitting out the series finale in what amounts to little more than maintenance after he started behind the plate Monday and Tuesday. The backstop came up big at the plate in both contests, going a combined 2-for-5 with a home run, a walk and four RBI. Luis Campusano will catch for Blake Snell on Wednesday.

Giants' Curt Casali: Starting in day game
Casali will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Padres, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
He'll pick up his second start of the season while top catcher Buster Posey rests for the day game after a night game. Casali will likely be in store for around two starts per week throughout the season so long as Posey is healthy.

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Receives breather
Narvaez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Narvaez looks to be getting a routine maintenance day after drawing starts behind the plate in both of the first two games of the series in Chicago. Backup catcher Manny Pina will enter the lineup Wednesday in place of Narvaez, who slugged a home run in both of his starts against the Cubs.

Cubs' Willson Contreras: Rests for series finale
Contreras is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
After being drilled by a pitch for the second time in as many days in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Milwaukee, Contreras took exception and exchanged words with Brewers pitcher Brad Boxberger, inciting a benches-clearing confrontation between both clubs. Though no ejections were made and no discipline from MLB is expected, Contreras will nonetheless get some time on the bench to cool off while Tony Wolters pick up a start behind the dish in the series finale. Contreras should check back into the lineup for Thursday's series opener in Pittsburgh.

Stallings is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Stallings is receiving some routine maintenance with Pittsburgh wrapping up its series in Cincinnati with a day game. Michael Perez will catch Chad Kuhl in the series finale.
