    Padres' Elias Diaz: Goes deep in victory

    Diaz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-0 victory versus the Pirates.

    Diaz accounted for San Diego's second run with a solo blast to left field in the second inning. The veteran catcher has gone deep in each of his past two starts after hitting just one homer across his first 20 games of the campaign. Diaz has played slightly more than fellow backstop Martin Maldonado this year and is slashing .226/.314/.387 through 71 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Scores twice, doubles in win

    Bailey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double during Sunday's 9-3 win over the Rockies.

    Bailey singled in the fifth before coming around to score. He later cracked a double into left field during the seventh inning and crossed home again on a bases-loaded walk. The 25-year-old catcher delivered his first multi-hit game since April 9, marking his third such performance of the 2025 campaign. Bailey is now slashing .176/.224/.264 with nine RBI, nine runs scored, six doubles, a triple and a 6:33 BB:K across 98 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Homers in loss

    Stephenson started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Nationals.

    Stephenson finished off a productive opening series after missing the first five weeks of the season with an oblique injury. He had a pair of doubles and two RBI in his season debut Friday before whacking his first homer Sunday. He's operated as the designated hitter in two of his first three games back off the IL.

    It's likely a standard rest day for Murphy after he went 0-for-9 with three strikeouts across the first two games of the series versus Los Angeles. Drake Baldwin will take over behind the plate to catch for Bryce Elder on Sunday.

    Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

    Smith went 3-for-8 with a double, two RBI and a run in the first two games of the series but will take a seat for the finale. Austin Barnes will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Dustin May.

    Pages will rest for the second game of the day after he went 0-for-4 while starting behind the plate in the Cardinals' 6-5 win in Game 1. Yohel Pozo will handle the catching duties in the nightcap.

    Marlins' Nick Fortes: Activated, starting Sunday

    Fortes (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will start at catcher and bat seventh Sunday versus the Athletics.

    The 28-year-old will rejoin the active roster after missing nearly a month due to a Grade 1 oblique strain. Fortes opened the campaign as Miami's primary catcher and had an .833 OPS through 22 plate appearances, but prospect Agustin Ramirez has taken over the role and has a .908 OPS in his first 10 big-league games.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Resting for early game

    Alvarez is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader in St. Louis.

    Alvarez will take a seat for the early game but should be back behind the plate for the second contest of the day to form a battery with starting pitcher Tylor Megill. Luis Torrens will handle the catching duties in Game 1.
