Moreno (adductor) has begun running at 80 percent and is scheduled to catch a bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Moreno is ramping up toward a potential mid-month return. The catcher has been sidelined since Aug. 5 when he suffered a strained left adductor while running out a single. Arizona is getting by with a combination of Adrian Del Castillo and Jose Herrera behind the dish.

Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Smith will get a chance to regroup Tuesday after going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Monday's series opener. Austin Barnes will replace him behind the plate and bat ninth.

Del Castillo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Del Castillo has now started just two of the last six contests for the Diamondbacks. They've faced three lefties over that stretch, but the left-handed hitting Del Castillo has also been out of the lineup twice versus righties, including on Tuesday against Nathan Eovaldi. Jose Herrera will catch and bat ninth for Arizona.

Grandal will start at catcher and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Marlins.

Though he's included in the starting nine Monday, Grandal is expected to move into the No. 2 role at catcher after the Pirates reinstated top backstop Joey Bart from the injured list Friday. Grandal is slashing .333/.469/.569 since the beginning of August, but his .681 OPS on the season still lags well behind Bart's mark of .848.

Bart is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Bart will get a breather for the series opener after he started at catcher in Sunday's series finale versus the Nationals while going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Yasmani Grandal will spell Bart behind the dish and will bat seventh.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Monday that Realmuto (knee) could be ready to play by the start of the team's series against the Mets on Friday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Realmuto will miss a third straight start Monday against the Rays while he deals with a left knee contusion. Thomson noted that the catcher is still dealing with swelling and fluid in the knee, which will prevent him from catching a bullpen session Monday as originally planned. The hope is that Realmuto will be able to test out the knee by catching a bullpen session Tuesday, but that doesn't seem to be a given, as the club monitors his status on a day-to-day basis. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher for the Phillies on Monday, and he and Aramis Garcia will likely continue to spilt work behind the dish during the team's three-game series with Tampa Bay.

Atlanta recalled Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

He will be the club's backup catcher behind Sean Murphy after Travis d'Arnaud was placed on the paternity list Monday. Tromp has slashed .250/.259/.365 in 19 games at the major-league level in 2024.

He will likely miss the next three games before rejoining the active roster for the weekend series against the Dodgers. Chadwick Tromp was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move and will back up Sean Murphy at catcher for the next few days.

Realmuto will miss out on a third consecutive start while he remains day-to-day with a left knee contusion, which stemmed from a fouling a ball off himself in the second inning of Friday's 16-2 win over the Marlins. Garrett Stubbs will get a turn behind the plate Monday in place of Realmuto.

Maile is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.

Maile picked up a start in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Mets while top backstop Tyler Stephenson received a breather, but Stephenson will be back behind the plate Monday. Since being activated from the 10-day injured list Aug. 2, Maile has started just seven times while going 2-for-21 at the dish.
