Sanchez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain Wednesday.

The severity of the issue is not yet clear, but he'll sit for a minimum of 10 days. Kyle Higashioka was recalled in a corresponding move and will back up Austin Romine behind the plate.

Since joining the Rays on May 10, d'Arnaud has slashed a solid .266/.327/.532 with 19 extra-base hits (11 home runs, eight doubles), 33 RBI and 29 runs in 46 contests. Vazquez pinch hit for Mitch Moreland and drilled his 16th home run in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rays.

Sanchez will have an MRI on his left groin Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's win over the Twins in the eighth inning after running to first base, George A. King III of the New York Post reports.

It sounds like Sanchez could be headed to the injured list. Sanchez appeared to sustain the injury while running to first base on a groundout to close the eighth inning. The 26-year-old slowly walked off the field with manager Aaron Boone and the athletic trainer.

The 26-year-old slowly walked off the field with manager Aaron Boone and the athletic trainer after the out was secured, but the specifics of the issue remain unclear. Sanchez went 0-for-5 prior to leaving the game.

Twins' Mitch Garver: Not starting Tuesday

Vazquez is not starting Tuesday against the Rays.
