  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Rangers' Jose Trevino: Sitting Tuesday

Trevino is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Twins.

He's batted .121 with one home run over his last 10 games. Jonah Heim will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Continues getting on base

Mejia went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run in a win over the Angels on Monday.

Mejia continues to deliver at the plate relatively consistently, with Monday marking the fourth time in his last five starts that he's hit safely. After a forgettable 2020 in San Diego, Mejia seems on track for production that much more closely resembles the encouraging .265/.316/.438 slash he generated over 244 plate appearances with the Padres in 2019.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Available to play

Heim (neck) was available to play Monday, Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Heim had been removed from Sunday's game after taking a foul ball to the neck area. Manager Chris Woodward said the catcher was fine and available to play.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Mariners' Tom Murphy: Clubs solo home run

Murphy went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk as Seattle lost 5-3 to Baltimore on Monday.

Murphy opened the scoring with his one-out home run in the fifth, but Baltimore would storm back with five runs in the eighth. He's slashing a disappointing .148/.207/.559.

  • Royals' Cam Gallagher: Heads to IL

Gallagher was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Gallagher will miss at least the next seven days after taking two foul tips off his mask during Sunday's contest. Sebastian Rivero was recalled to take Gallagher's spot.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: On bench Monday

Stassi will sit Monday against the Rays.

Stassi started three of the Angels' last four games after returning from a thumb injury Wednesday. Kurt Suzuki starts behind the plate Monday.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Expected to miss significant time

Kirk (hip) is expected to miss significant time due to his injury, Ben Wagner of Sportsnet reports.

Kirk was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hip flexor strain Sunday, and he's expected to miss at least six weeks. Riley Adams was recalled by the Blue Jays on Sunday and should serve as the No. 2 option at catcher behind Danny Jansen.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Returns to lineup

Perez (finger) is starting Monday's game against the Royals.

Perez had been out of the lineup in each of the last two games, and manager Terry Francona announced Sunday that the catcher has a non-displaced fracture in his right ring finger. However, Perez is expected to play through the injury going forward, and he'll start behind the plate and bat eighth Monday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Not starting Monday

Garver isn't starting Monday's game against the Rangers.

Garver went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Sunday's win over the Royals. Ben Rortvedt will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Blasts RBI double in win

Higashioka went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two strikeouts in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Tigers.

Higashioka had gone hitless with two walks and three strikeouts in his last eight plate appearances, but he put the Yankees on the board with his double in the second inning Sunday. The 31-year-old has continued to split time behind the dish with Gary Sanchez early in the season, but manager Aaron Boone has indicated that the starting catcher will be determined on a game-to-game basis. Higashioka has slashed .265/.375/.706 with four home runs, seven RBI and six runs in 14 games this year.
