With Detroit pushing toward the postseason, Liranzo is a possible candidate to get traded before the deadline, particularly if the Tigers don't want to move their high-end prospects, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The Tigers have a well-stocked farm system, headlined by the likes of Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle and Josue Briceno, as well as Bryce Rainer, who is out for the season due to a dislocated shoulder. While Detroit appears to be a World Series contender this year, it appears unlikely that the team is motivated to trade any of its elite prospects, and Rainer may be hard to move due to his injury. Liranzo is a legitimate prospect in his own right, but he's likely a notch below the aforementioned players, which could make him a target for other clubs. He and Briceno are also both catchers, so the Tigers could view Liranzo as expendable if the right offer comes along. The 22-year-old is slashing .233/.351/.404 with 10 home runs across 65 games for Double-A Erie.

The Orioles announced Monday that Handley (wrist) has resumed swinging a bat, MLB.com reports.

Initially placed on the 7-day injured list June 23, Handley cleared concussion protocol a month later but was shifted to the 10-day IL last week while he continues to recover from a right wrist sprain. The backstop appears to have begun a hitting progression, but he'll still need to face live pitching in addition to proving that his throwing isn't impacted by the wrist injury before he gets cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Blue Jays.

Rutschman made a triumphant return to the lineup in Monday's 11-4 win over Toronto following a five-plus-week stay on the injured list due to an oblique strain. He started behind the plate and batted cleanup in the win, finishing with two doubles, one single, two runs and two RBI over five plate appearances. Alex Jackson will step in behind the plate for the first game of the day Tuesday, but Rutschman should be in line to handle catching duties for the nightcap.

Heineman is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles.

With Alejandro Kirk (concussion) landing on the 7-day injured list over the weekend, Heineman is poised to take over as Toronto's primary catcher in the interim, but the 34-year-old won't be asked to start both ends of Tuesday's twin bill. Ali Sanchez will step in behind the plate for Game 1, but expect Heineman to catch for starting pitcher Eric Lauer in the nightcap.

Rutschman went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-4 win over the Blue Jays.

Rutschman returned to action for the first time since June 19 and tallied his fifth three-hit game of the season, highlighted by a two-run double in the third inning. The 27-year-old is slashing .235/.324/.385 with eight homers, 22 RBI and 33 runs scored across 281 plate appearances, and Monday's performance provides optimism he can finish the season strong.

The Royals announced that Perez exited Monday's game against Atlanta with a left elbow contusion.

Perez took a 94 mph fastball from Spencer Strider off the elbow in the bottom of the third inning and was later removed from the contest in the top of the fifth. Freddy Fermin replaced Perez behind the plate. The hot-hitting Perez should be viewed as day-to-day, with Tuesday versus Atlanta being his next chance to play.

Perez exited Monday's game versus Atlanta in the top of the fifth inning after previously getting hit by a pitch in the elbow, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Perez was hit with a Spencer Strider fastball in the bottom of the third inning but stayed in the game only to be removed in favor of Freddy Fermin in the top of the fifth. Prior to exiting, Perez was 1-for-1 at the plate with one RBI. The veteran catcher has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last month-plus, slashing .304/.340/.685 with nine home runs, 20 RBI and 14 runs scored over the previous 30 days leading into Monday's contest.

Dingler went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Dingler has been in a nice groove lately, as he now has hits in four straight games, with three of them going down as multi-hit performances. Overall, the Detroit catcher is slashing .279/.320/.435 with nine home runs, 29 runs scored and 40 RBI across 80 games. He's been more effective against lefties, sporting an .889 OPS in those matchups, and his long ball Monday came against Arizona southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. However, Dingler still has a solid .710 OPS against righties, giving him broad fantasy appeal in his starting role.

Vazquez will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Vazquez will draw a third consecutive start behind the dish, but he'll likely see his playing time scaled back once top backstop Ryan Jeffers (personal) returns from the paternity list. The 34-year-old Vazquez has struggled to get much going offensively in 2025; he'll enter Monday's contest with a .527 OPS, the lowest mark of his 11-year big-league career.

Teel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

After he was rested for Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs in day game after a night game, the left-handed-hitting Teel will remain on the bench Monday since the Phillies are sending a southpaw (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill. Edgar Quero will handle catching duties for the White Sox in the series opener.
