Royals catcher Salvador Perez left Thursday's game due to "mild dizziness."

The move was considered precautionary, though it's worrisome that Perez was dealing with dizziness considering he had a concussion earlier this year. Classifying the injury as "mild" could imply the team doesn't believe it's too serious. But concussion-related issues are always difficult to project.

Perez is hitting .281/.315/.412 in 417 at-bats.

Perez left after hitting an RBI single in the fifth inning. He had taken a hard foul off his mask earlier in the game. Perez is hitting .281/.315/.412 in 417 at-bats.

Perez will be replaced by George Kottaras behind the plate. Perez is hitting .281/.312/.410 in 398 at-bats. 

Royals catcher Salvador Perez had a big game Wednesday during a win at Minnesota. Perez drove in four runs on the four-hit night. 

Perez hit two home runs for the Royals as he went deep in the fourth inning for a two-run shot and added another in the eighth. He now has nine HRs on the season. Perez also drove in a run in the ninth but wasn't credited with an RBI as he hit into a double play. 

The backstop finished 4 for 5 and added a double. He's batting .281 on the year and has gone 11 for 22 (.500) with a double, four homers and 13 RBI over a five-game hitting streak. 

Royals catcher Salvador Perez homered Monday during a one-game series win over the Rays. Playing at home, Perez went deep off Cesar Ramos in the sixth inning.

Perez's two-out three-run blast, his seventh of the year, gave the Royals a 10-1 lead. He added a sacrifice fly in the game and finished with four RBI. Perez went 1 for 3 and is batting .271 on the year.

The backstop of the Royals has homered in back-to-back games and has seven RBI over that span. In fact, he's driven in nine runs in his last three contests and is up to 56 runs driven in on the year. He's heating up right now with base hits in eight of his last nine contests.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit his sixth home run in Sunday's win over Washington.

Perez finished 2 for 4 with a run scored and three RBI. It was Perez's first home run at home since June 7 against Houston. His batting line sits at .270/.303/.377

Blue Jays catcher Josh Thole smashed his first home run of the season Wednesday night in New York. Although the Jays lost the game, Thole's homer tied the score at two in the fourth inning.

Thole finished 1 for 3 in the contest and is batting .146 on the year for Toronto. He added a sacrifice. The backstop has just six RBI all season over 82 at-bats.

Yankees catcher Chris Stewart hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the sixth inning Tuesday, propelling New York to a 8-4 win against the Blue Jays in the first game of a doubleheader. It was Stewart's fourth home run.

Stewart extended his hitting streak to five games. He's batting .350 (7 for 20) with one double, one home run and seven RBI in his last five games.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit his fifth home run in a loss Saturday against Detroit.

Perez finished 2 for 4 with a run scored, two RBI and a walk to go with the home run. It was Perez's first home run since returning from the disabled list Aug. 11. He is hitting .273/.308/.379.

I assume Yan Gomes is the main reason the Indians let Mark Reynolds go. They probably know as well as anyone that the former Diamondbacks and Orioles slugger has another power surge in him, but why suffer through this crippling cold spell when they can just go with Gomes and live happily ever after?

That's basically what they've done in five games since, starting Gomes at catcher in four of them. With Reynolds out of the picture, first base and DH are all the more available for Carlos Santana, their opening day catcher who they've never really treated as a catcher.

Gomes has a .314 batting average and .893 OPS. Granted, those numbers are inflated by recent hot streak that has him hitting .500 (21 for 42) with two homers over his last 13 games, but with more regular playing time, his streaks might not be so exaggerating moving forward.

And with more regular playing time, he's a legitimate Fantasy asset. I've moved him all the way up to 20th at catcher in my rankings, but if you prefer the upside play, you could make a case for him as high as 16th.
